Items left in crafting bench

Search for "left in Crafting bench". You get 292341 hits.
This suggests that walking away from a crafting bench until the crafting bench window closes, and the item NOT returning to your inventory/equipment (whichever it came from) is a bug. FEEDBACK: fix this bug. Suggested Fix: While any item is put into a crafting bench, nothing can be put in the spot it came from. When the Crafting Bench closes, the item returns whence it came. This prevents putting an 8 square weapon in the crafting bench, then moving stuff so there's no place to return it, then walking away and causing a server-end problem. Having stuff stay in the workbench when we walk away amounts to a goofy extra tab of storage space, done badly. FEEDBACK: Fix this bug. You may call this a bug but I see it as a programming oversight. You can put an item into a crafting bench, log out, come back in the future, and the item is still there. There have been a few items that you couldn't stash but could leave in the crafting bench so as to not take up inventory space. Look, it's not a bug, it's a feature! Oversight #666.

I used to store stuff in the benches all the time before I had a gazillion stash tabs. I wouldn’t call it a bug or an oversight. Just a decision that some people don’t like.

you can store shaper orbs there even though you cant put them in your stash. kinda usefull when you dont want to shape for some time.

I use Leo's bench to 'store' a shaper orb until I decide what map to shape. Caused some issues when I forgot about lower tier ones, and starting getting others but it all came out in the end.

crafting benches are part of your personal inventory, not the stash.
they're char bound and a secure storage for things like quest items you can't put into the inventory for that very reason (like the huge moon and sun orbs). i would really miss not being able to store those things away. same as leaving items in the slots i want to craft later. offline
