[HELP] Does the firestorm gem not work with the Poet's Pen carved wand?

I'm still new to the game, and I just got my first unique item which is the Poet's Pen Carved Wand. I wanted to use my firestorm gem in it but it gave me the "Skill cannot be used" message. When I put the gem into a different wand, like a Goat's Horn, the gem works.

it meens u can't self cast the skill...but it'll trigger when u use an attack with the wand , like frenzy,power syphon,barrage....and also default attack....
it also means that u can reserve all ur mana and the mechanic will still work....it is a grat item,believe me.

When a gem is set to be triggered, you can't cast it manually. That's why the skill "Can't be used." Because the whole purpose of using a Poet's Pen is to trigger it using Attacks.

Attacks are skills like Barrage, Frenzy, Kinetic Blast, and Power Siphon. When you have Firestorm socketed in Poet's Pen, and you use one of those Skills, a Firestorm will pop outta ya.

Sorry if this is a bit insulting but I just gotta say it - you could say the Firestorm Gem does not work with Poet's Pen because of the "Can't be used" part. That means that no spell gem at all works with Poet's Pen. Spark doesn't work with it, Arc doesn't work with it... it's just a broken pen!

Most people use Frenzy when attacking with Poet's because it gives you free frenzy charges boosting your attack speed making you spew spells out at an increased rate.

Frenzy is also a good choice because you can use a level 1 20%Q (or higher) and Q gives even more cast speed. Since the frenzy does so little damage anyway, you can use a level 1 to cast it for 10 mana. You can reserve like 99% mana and still cast np.

But there are good arguments for other attacks.
