I've made a late change!

I've added some helpful tips/crafts for levelling & replaced fireball with freezing pulse. Also I suggest getting onslaught support gem via scion.

I think we're pretty much set to go. Check the guide just before league start for any new updates!

I'm going to do a slight optimisation to the passive pathing in Act 5 & 6. There's a way to increase spectre DPS without needing to buy a jewel. It's only a small change, but saving 1c in the first few hours is useful.

The changes to the passive tree in 3.6 do not affect this build. So the 3.5.3 link is still fine. If you change 3.5.3 in the address to 3.6, you can see that nothing breaks.

Hi everyone it's Kay!

This spectre summoner is a very flexible build. You can focus on boss killing, fast mapping or a combination. You can do all content in the game with just one character, and even get 40 challenges!

This build is based on my own character as well as the suggestions and theorycrafting of many other players. So a big thank you to everyone who has contributed!




I will update the guides for 3.13.
I can build around nerfs, but definitely have less DPS than before. Spectre choice will change. we can only use tanky spectres in 3.13. So it will be a bit difficult to get them. Need to share. If that's OK for you, then no problem.

Summary of 3.13 changes and nerfs
Damage nerf isn't a problem. We did all content back in 3.0 with 100k dps.

Spectre life is a big problem. I think we can only use spectres with 300% base life or higher. Anything from the story will be too squishy. So get ready to use spectre bank. And we need to be kind and share spectres. :)

Not sure about accuracy nerf. might be bad for attack spectres. for example crabbies, SO, RS. Artless assassin too.

Maybe need to use mix of minion life and aura clusters. Or all minion life.

Phantasms with life from death maybe one idea to help survivability. I don't know if anyone remembers 3.6/3.7 build but I had phantasms in the links. They add dps too!


If you follow my levelling guide, I used SRS + MI. I also have a build plan for it. I think it's still really strong and can play with just one hand if you like.

Key mechanics

KEY MECHANICS

League Start & SSF is designed for league start and solo-self-found. It is completely made from rare items, that you can pick up or self-craft. There are no uniques needed for this build.

The main damage dealers are the spectres. The build also uses zombies and a stone golem to provide: buffs, extra DPS, life regen, and be a meat shield.

I recommend using the Slave Driver spectre. It’s a good all-round spectre, and it’s great for levelling and early mapping. It uses a powerful lightning-based aoe-spell, that can hit many monsters in a single cast.



DEFENCES

The build has several defensive features.
• The minions are your meat shield. Incoming attacks will hit them before they hit you.
• A large life pool means you can take a hit and not instantly die.
• Good amount of block, and life recovery on block.
• Dread banner reduces the enemy’s hit chance.
• You can focus on using defensive flasks.
• and Minions can blind and taunt monsters, if you have the right ghastly eye jewels.

Upgrading after League Start

This build can carry you to level 100 and Sirus A8. But if you have currency and you play in the trade league, think about upgrading to Pure Spectres or Spectres & Spiders.

The easiest upgrade is the Pure Spectres build. I recommend upgrading in this order:
1. 4 spectres (Raise Spectre gem level 25)
2. Triad Grip gloves (4G sockets) + Syndicate Operative
3. Cluster Jewels

KEY MECHANICS

The Pure Spectres build uses several key mechanics to boost DPS and quality of life.

devouring diadem + sovereignty
Devouring diadem and Sovereignty notable give a lot of
reduced-mana-reserve. It also has eldritch battery, so you use energy shield instead of mana. This allows you to reserve 100% mana with 2 auras and skitters. It also provides a large amount of life recovery from feast of flesh. And you can do maps with ‘no regen’.

skitterbots + profane proxy
Skitters normally have a shock and chill aura, but we can replace one aura with a curse by using profane proksy. So, your skitters become a mobile curse aura. This means we don’t need to use curse on hit, and we can curse monsters without stopping.

This spectre casts a spell that triggers the range attack.

Volley is used for shotgun effect.

Delve chest with high life. Hunter's orb to get the offering mod. Bench craft is 8% life & mana.

Key mechanics & How to play

KEY MECHANICS

1. Spiders
Arakaali’s Fang summons spiders that have high movement speed, are extremely aggressive, and will attack everything on-screen and off-screen. They hit with physical and chaos damage, and will proc poison. They are also immune to damage.

2. Speaker’s wreath & spider’s poison
Speaker’s wreath blocks your spectres and spiders from killing monsters with hits, because they cannot ignite the monsters.
This means all monsters will die from spider’s poison.
And any kill from a minion’s poison will count as a player kill.

3. on kill effects
Spider’s poison kill will proc any ‘on kill’ effect, such as:
• Re-spawning spiders
• Life and ES recovery



HOW TO PLAY

To start mapping, let spectres hit the nearest monsters. They will reduce the monster’s life to 0, but they won’t be able to kill them because of Speaker’s Wreath.
Walk close and kill the monsters with your Arma Brand. This will spawn spiders.

General Notes and Warning
Crafting in PoE is random, so you may need to repeat the craft many times to get the required mods. Some mods have a very low chance of rolling and the crafting mats can be extremely expensive.

Why use Victario's Charity without Necromantic Aegis?


I don't recommend Necro Aegis because mapping is already easy.
You will lose defense from shield (life,block,res)
You can't get powercharge in boss fight because nothing to kill.
It's easy to get frenzy charge against boss with HFT.



How does Elemental Equilibrium (EE) work with spectres?

Enemies you hit with Elemental Damage temporarily get +25% Resistance to those Elements and -50% Resistance to other Elements

The effect lasts 5 seconds or until being overwritten.

Trap, Mine, and Totem skills trigger EE ... Minions do not proc EE.

Any elemental spell you use will proc EE on all enemies that you hit. Your minions cannot proc EE, but they will benefit from its effects.

Example:
Slave Driver spectres use a lightning spell. So, you hit a boss with Armageddon Brand which is fire damage. It will proc EE: monsters will get +25% fire res and -50% lightning and cold res.


Elemental Equilibrium appears as pink circles under monsters.

Why use Spell Echo?

Spell Echo is a support gem that makes linked spell gems repeat themselves after the initial cast.

Spell Echo only works for spells cast by an actual player or minion

This means that both the player and minions will benefit from the repeated cast, as well as the increased cast speed. Spell Echo will more than double your spectres' DPS.

Note: Spell Echo will cause Raise Spectre to repeat, so you need to remove it before raising spectres. Remember to put the gem back in when you are finished.


How do I get 4 or 5 spectres?


1. RAISE SPECTRE GEM LEVEL
1 spectre at level 1-12
2 spectres at levels 13-24
3 spectres at level 25+

Raise Spectre can be level 20 or 21.


Unnatural Strength ascendancy passive gives +2 level to minion gems.


Hunter influence amulet can give +1 to all intelligence skill gems.


Convoking Wand can give +1 or +2 to minion gems.


Boots can give +1 spectre skill gem.



2. DEATH ATTUNEMENT PASSIVE SKILL

Death Attunement gives +1 spectre. It can be found at the top left of the passive tree.

3. +1 MAXIMUM NUMBER OF SPECTRES DELVE BODY ARMOUR

Note: +1 chest is a rare delve drop; it cannot be crafted.


How about 6 spectres?

You need to use Midnight Bargain to get +1 spectre. But it takes away 30% of your life.
Another option is Queen's Decree, but it is a 2h sword so you can't use a shield and trigger wand for easy Bone Offering.

Can I do elemental/physical reflect maps?


Yes!

You will need to change Pantheon to Yugul and use Sibyl's Lament. They combine to reduced reflected damage by 105%





Can you check my gear? What should I upgrade?

There are 3 things you need to do:

1. Check the example equipment for upgrade ideas.

2. Make sure your spectres are in a 6-link.

3. Make sure you have Raise Spectre 25+

4. Stack life on all your gear.
