Let's Talk About The Brain Rattler

I like looking through unique items and sometimes trying to come up with unique ways to use them. I tried using this weapon when charged dash was released, thinking it was going to be a great combination. At that time it was not the best skill overall, but now it could be a bit better with the changes to charged dash now. Anyways back to the Brain Rattler, when I look at this weapon it looks pretty damn good. Its only major flaw is its slow and some can argue its because its a two handed weapon too. The cast speed and move speed reduction while shocked is a nice defensive stat. You could always slap a yoke of suffering on as well to make it easier to shock for example. The weapon also comes with 20% free pen and 50% conversion if you wish to stick to the lightning theme. Do you think if it received a buff to attack speed this weapon would see more use? I was thinking about 1.4s versus the 1.2, don't think that would be asking alot. It's just a bit sad you can only obtain this weapon like other weapons from guardians but they just aren't good but thats a totally different discussion. Thoughts?

As I said if you read the post, giving it a slight attack speed boost might fix the item and make it worth using because the other stats on the item itself are pretty good.
Naw it's a two way equation why would you use a two hander in the first place as well when a 1 hander + stat stick is like 100% more damage?

If you wanna do an elemental build you pick a voidforge which is like 1 ex now.

Basically nothing can save that weapon hell or even most 2 hander in general.

There used to be a cyclone build that used it + inpulsa. Seemed...fun, I guess? But in the end, 2-handers are worthless. If you're playing melee without dual wielding a statstick, you're just memeing, and if you're just memeing, you shouldn't be concerned with optimization.
as others have stated... 2H is pretty "bad" atm, it missed the powercreep infusion, dual wield into stat stick is just superior in any way... its kinda sad, but if you build to just farm t3-11 you can do just fine with 2h.

Imo they should just add some "more" modifier whenever a skill is used with a 2 hand. Like atleast 30% more damage when used with two hand.. same for staves and spells.
From the few replies I see, I believe anyone else that reads this can conclude its more or less the fact its a 2handed issue more than anything else. I know alot of people think the solution is to remove stat sticks but that's not going to happen and I don't believe that's the best solution either. I know I've read a few times that adding a hilt or something for 2handed weapons could be a start but I don't see that one happening either. Buffing 2handers with damage is I guess the way to go but what I'm about to say is solely my opinion so don't take it as a "it fits all" thing; but I just get tired of the "give it damage and that fixes it." I just wish their could be other mechanics that could potentially fix the bad mechanics of 2handed weapons.
Oh... I misunderstood the thread title. I thought it was about all the troll posts from Chris over the years. Especially a video a few years back of him discussing new features for the next league with a strategically placed fishing rod behind him. :)

I try to use brain rattler every league, truth is sadly our resident dinosaur is right, It is garbage.

Same problem most ele weapons have, its too slow and/or its crit is too low. The result is it scales badly and you don't really gain anything from using it, it probably needs some heavy changes to be usable like 1.6 speed or some major lightning perks (even more than it already has)

2nd problem is its a 2h, and 2h blow at the moment and that won't change until they do a major rebalance or remove stat-sticks.

Edit: the usable 2h's at the moment are things like Starforge, Voidforge, Disfavour and Tidebreaker, first 3 are like 700 dps or have awesome perks, tidebreaker has a free ~ 20-30% more multiplier for THICCs or other endurance charge classes.

Almost every other 2h needs a significant boost up to probably the mid 5's to low 600 range.
