How do you scour gems?

I was under the impression that one may use an Orb of Scouring to remove levels from skill gems. Yet every time I attempt to do so, I receive an error feedback, which says that I should use the Orb on Gems which are not socketed or equipped.
Has the ability to scour been removed and this feedback outdated? Or am I just too stupid and am missing the obvious? Underrated stats: Basic human decency, small quantum of respect, microportion of compassion

You have to vendor the gem + the scouring orb, and it will return the deleveled gem.

Also remember to just vendor one scour at a time with the gem. Selling multiple orbs will result in only one level removed and the rest of your scour orbs lost :)

I read somewhere on the forums that an orb of regret would remove all levels from a gem - that false? . |
