Poet's Pen Assassin?

Hi guys!

I hope someone can help me a little, I'm a little confused.

I have the currencey for starting a Poet's Pen builds (mostly vd and unearth i think), but I'm not sure about the class. I realy like the assassin class, but I don't know is that good for the Poet's Pen? I googled and read a lot, and some says templar is the best then ascendant elementalist/slayer is the second and elementalist (witch) is the 3rd.
I don't like the templar (dont ask me why, i know it's strong but not my type :D).
So my question is: Assassin is good for these kind of build or I'm better choosing between the scion and the witch.

I will never reach the true endgame content, I never did. I just want to have a solid Poet's Pen character who can do mid tier maps (or a little higher if it realy good :) ) without problems (which means balanced defenese and offense is my goal)

So the trickster is better then the assassin? I thought that for crit builds assassin is the way to go.
Elementalist is OK for me, I like it.
Would you be so kind to explain a little more your opinion?
