What it takes to play SSFHC

Props to the people who do it, logout macro or no. Also, I think this is the attitude GGG themselves are also required to have with leagues since they, like Bestiary, might not always work out. Just felt like sharing this with you guys. :) Last bumped on May 17, 2018, 5:29:20 PM

Just a different playstyle, with different objectives. Only people that don't understand that think it's a big deal.

SSF HC addresses many of the major complaints with PoE. It vastly slows down progression and returns the game to the fetishized golden days from before "clearspeed meta" took over. Item upgrades are intrinsically satisfying because you are no longer collecting quasi-currency that must be traded in, rather you are collecting the actual items themselves. And you get to actually use your currency on improving your build as you accumulate it, rather than tossing it in your stash to rot for eternity or stack until you can trade it on the market. And of course... you no longer need to deal with "player interaction" whatsoever!
The biggest downside would be the fact that build viability is severely limited in the beginning, but I find it's not a major drawback if you plan to be flexible and open to experimentation... lots of uniques that I long-considered Charsi food now have upgraded / fated version that are very obtainable and build-enabling for SSF, and rerolling a character is exponentially faster once you've already done it in a league |

Thanx for sharing, I like leveling from nothing and then just dying unexpectedly. I played a lot without even reaching maps back in the days. "The path is the goal" as they say

SSF HC in a Nutshell is basically a Mandala?
Masterpiece of 3.16 lore
"A mysterious figure appears out of nowhere, trying to escape from something you can't see. She hands you a rusty-looking device called the Blood Crucible and urges you to implant it into your body." Only usable with Ethanol Flasks |

It takes a good internet connection and stable. 90% of HC deaths are network or code related from what I seen and experienced. Like #1 SSFHC Aila dying at 99.85 due game freeze. I just don't fuck with HC anymore because of that (and same MTX). SSF is cool though. No reason you cant be 100 or beat end game nowadays. With better drops, masters, cards, and such u can build nearly everything given enough time. I used to be a big trader like everything. But now I play SSF. Got burned out of all the issues of trade game. AFKs, scams, dickheads, etc

Spoiler
Don't contribute to the discussion, but HC SSF topics always remind me South Park episode about hybrids.

" I've heard he said that was actually his PC failing i.e. the game didn't crash, his system did. |

First time I really tried HC so as an SSF guy I gave Flashback SFFHC a try. It's the end of the league and there's not much to do so I told myself "why not". Oh boy that's a ride. I spend hundreds of hours into PoE and I'm by no means able to withstand the HC prerequisites but I'm giving it a shot. Eighth character so far in a week because 7 of them didn't go through act 3. Only the last one reached the map but I died on the first one lol. But boy I'm having fun!
I'm fed up with the first acts, I can't stand losing my stuff when I die and I've been victim to particularly harsh deaths but I'm having a blast. The intensity to get out of suicidal mods in Flashback is exhilarating and you really care about your character. Red beasts are the bane of my existence. As a side challenge, I'm enjoying SSFHC so much. I wouldn't play it at all league wise but it's a sweet sweet adrenaline rush for a week or two. Players who go the SSF HC league road have my utmost respect, more power to you guys cause you need mental fortitude in addition to insane knowledge to make it through. |
