"Abaxoth, the End of All That Is" dropped me 4 rares

Welcome to the only ARPG (I think?) where boss mobs have only a marginally better chance (or no additional chance at all!!!!???) of dropping good loot.

It is odd, curious, mildly frustrating, but a core part of the game.

I still feel a pang every time I skip a map boss, but when it finally affects me enough that I kill a bunch of boss mobs in a row, the resulting garbage drops are a fabulous reminder.

Bosses are to easy for them to drop good loot. There is also a problem that there are many monsters and only 1 boss. Hard to balance anything around that. Giving bosses good loot will just make them the only thing worth farming like its in other ARPGs. Than there is a problem with item generation itself. There is just to many variables on rare items. Even if you somehow figure that part out than you will have problem with over flooding market with good items rendering them worthless. There is just to many things for GGG to even approach fixing this.
I imagine that GGG thought "just give him internal wealthy mod" (does anyone even remember that is a thing?) when thinking of what reward would be appropriate for beating him
Oblivious
Personally, I don't care if the big bosses give rewards. Why does anyone need a reward at that point? You can kill the hardest monsters in the game. Any reward at that point would just make the entire game too easy.

This won´t help anyone bc it´s probably common knowledge, but Abaxoth is easy when you´re a ranged build or totem build. You just have to offscreen him. I wouldn´t attempt him as melee.

Except in Flashback, where the mods included Invasion and Bloodlines. (for me yesterday as a Totem build)
~ Please separate the PoE1 and PoE2 forums.
The call him "the end of all that is" for a reason. Any thing he has goes into a void. So he drops nothing.
Censored.

This isn't the regular map bosses that we are talking about, this is a very rare and old yet super powerful boss of Beyond, Abaxoth, unless spamming beyond and density every maps, we won't encounter it too often in Standards. For this flashback, I've seen it like 5 times because of the absurd density this race brings, and yet the only valuable loot was "the world eater". And it's not that hard to fix, I think GGG has too much content to worry about and they kinda forgot about this boss. Particularly, I feel like the loot value of this boss has been the same ever since its appearance in Beyond league, everything around it got updated but the loot value itself, thus increasing rarity and quantity of the loot isnt too complicated.

Good that you feel it the way you do, bringing up the value of self-challenge (I suppose?), but this is a loot-based game, gated behind RNG and this RNG for this specific scenario doesn't feel right, just an opinion though

I was playing SSF Flash Back, was in t6 Thicket with whatever mods including Beyond and all the other shits. The density was insane and there were like 3 yellow beasts around as well. Popped a pack and triggered beyond, Abaxoth appeared, cast 1,562 flame blast rings and ripped me. I spent another 3 portals running at him because you know, I had to do it. After a good 3 minutes fight of constant running and dealing shitty dps I finally killed him, the loot filter did its job and hid the unworthy drops. I thought something was wrong, the screen was wide empty, pressed Alt and it literally showed 4 rares dropped from the Beyond boss itself.

Yo, I'm not asking for mirror or something, but it dropped way less than the yellow beasts and it's the freaking final boss of the beyond realm, come on! The design and the fight itself was really fun, adrenaline and all but then the loot? it was as much as Vagan would drop in a daily mission, except for the occasional "the world eater" drop (as if we all gonna get Starforge that way).

All I'm saying, make the loot somewhat as interesting as the fight, I feel like Beyond monsters are pretty outdated with their loots, they give good density and exp but mostly the loots arent that good.

Hahaha.
I had the exact same experience.
Was on beyond monstrous treasure tier 8 map.
Then he poped.
I used 4 portals to kill him and died 3 times.
And he dropped absolutely nothing worthy.
Only shitty items that my filter usually hide.

That was my first time kill on this boss.
I even got an achievement !
The game know this boss is so hard that it gave me a freaking achievement !!!!
But no loots lel.

same here, killed him on a T6 map after kiting forever and ever. finally my totem killed him off screen and i spent 10 minutes combing the map looking for his loot. I finally turned off my loot filter and found the giant pile of crap he dropped that wasn't even good enough to pass the loot filter. What a joke, i'll never bother with him again.
The name of the enemy is clearly explaining the reason
"Abaxoth, the End of All That Is"...so good drops, player motivation, your expriance bar...

That guy is scary af. He was just melting away my life pool, taking chunks of about 5k at a time.

Had to quicksilver in, do a little damage and then hightail out. Bottom was firmly clenched the whole time because I knew it meant a loss of 10 hours xp if he killed me.

Dropped 2 lousy rares and a magic 6 socket bow lol. For one of the hardest encounters I've had in the game, I felt kind of cheated.

I'm Left of Right and far Right of Left.
