Iron Will or Minion Damage

O.K. if minions have a base strength, the only way you'll notice if Iron will is better is to play and test. If you say this feels like more damage, great, go ahead and use Iron will and assume there is an unknown base strength on your spectres..... but remember, iron will has an increase to spell damage that is independent of strength, so you may just be noticing that part.

Alternately, there might be no base strength on spectres, which would mean the only way iron will's strength bonus can help is via the Baron helm. In this case, since minions only get half the benefit, then the iron will only gives 1% spell damage every 10 strength.

In any case, comparing Iron will with minion damage should take into account this game's separation of additive and multiplicative multipliers, as this person already pointed out:
"
the "more" modifier from minion damage is way more powerful than the increase from iron will

So rather than get too complicated, I used mage skeletons as a base damage and plugged the tree, support gem and items into path of building, and came up with a reasonably trustworthy estimate of when it might be better to take iron will before minion damage.
