Those gloves can be used to apply poisons for the assassin tree when you aren't doing physical damage... I guess that might be helpful.

Grats, john - never completed the fight myself.

" It took 3 portals, so yeah I got my arse handed as well until I learned to stay away from the lower arena (or just Quicksilver through it). My Frost Blades character is great for this, because the blades chain off the minions and other bosses, while dealing damage to the vulnerable boss. I was damaging books, Dropbears and other nasty crap which could otherwise overwhelm me. That character however is bad against Elder, and I'm not entirely sure why. it can deal with single bosses like T15 Basilica Avarius and Elder Guardians - despite FB's bad single-target - but Elder himself just regens ES and switches to the "freeze drain" attack, which insta-kills me.
