Rat Cage

Can anyone out there explain to me what Rat Cage is useful for. In other words how can you actually make good use of its mods. I can't think of an evasion character being so afraid of taking fire damage that they'd prefer to take some of it as physical damage instead.

Or perhaps it's just strictlyh worse than a decent elder or shaped chest? For example 80 life on a chest with recover 6% life on kill would be better than 200 on rat cage pretty much right?

OK, I just realized that the Trickster would get 200life and 200ES from rat cage, I suppose its good just on him?

You can use it with Eye of innocence to take a small amount of phys damage each time you ignite an enemy.

This could be used with Vaal molten shell, for eg.

taking fire damage as phys means its reduced by phys reduction, so you can operate like lightning coil in reverse.

I think originally it was really just intended as a drawback for a 200life chest, but now we can get fairly close to that on a rare so its just a really bad evade chest.

So you pop a ruby and a basalt at the same time... yeah efficient and stuff bleh - give it chaos resist of 40% and I would wear it

I WAS SO WRONG. It's a great chest armor in certain situations. The movespeed is where the defense comes from. I mean I'm just running circles round Izaro. Kind of makes me want to make a Rat Cage specific character with just max ass movespeed.

By the way... it would have to be a Tricksta!

By all means make a max movespeed trickster - but consider using Queen of the Forest instead, because it is much better.

Except I'm not going evasion. Just like my current character who isn't evasion. But I needed moar HP so I tried Rat Cage. I swapped out 3 pieces of gear and went from 2200 up to 3000 at level 64

A non-evasion life-based Trickster with Escape Artist? Interesting.
