Gut Data Fact: Stormcharger Doubles Your DPS
GDF Primer:
Spoiler
(For those who've never seen the Maybe I'm Crazy podcast, a gut data fact is essentially a fact that arises from the gut - it may or may not coorelate 100% with reality but at the same time one can never truly call a gut data fact false due to the nature of its origins)
So anyway, gut data fact: Stormcharger boots double your DPS under any level of sensible conditions. Period. Just simply take your tooltip, and double that bit. Am I wrong? They seem awfully underrated or are people secretly using these like in every build? Last bumped on Mar 30, 2018, 9:21:37 PM

I think I must be missing something, because while 30% phys to lightning conversion and increased effect of shock is certainly nice mods, I don't see that doubling the damage of any build, let alone all builds. Or is this some sort of joke relating to the 'Gut Data' that because it feels double to you it is? I don't get it.

Ew. I'll never understand why people would go to such lengths just to copy poe builds. Yuck. This type of behaviour just ruins almost every card game that's ever been released online.
...as far as boots go, In PoE Builder I checked the "enemy is shocked" and my toolip just straight up doubled. So I tried this ingame and it seems like I"m doing more damage than the tooltip is saying, cuz dudes is melting out there compared to before I equipped these. Yet I never heard anyone say a thing about them. Or post them in global like "hey check out this sweet enchant on stormcharger" SEemed they were getting the shitty unique treatment. But I could be wrong. Last edited by BearCares#6660 on Mar 30, 2018, 7:47:49 PM

Well, the boot slot has been pretty much secured for every build out there at least so creating your very own should be easier.

Damage conversion can be anything from half-decent to useless to actively detrimental.
Increased effect of shock obviously only applies if you actually shock stuff. If you do, good for you. If you don't, the mod is useless. If you always shock for the full 50% effect, this mod will do nothing. Shock duration is nice I guess; although any build that actually invests into shock will not have any problems refreshing the shocks once every 2 seconds anyway. Other than that the boots have mediocre move speed and resists, and no life or ES or other beneficial mods. If you are actively shocking stuff, this will be at the best somewhere in the ballpark of 13% boost to your damage. (Assuming 33% base effect of shock, which gets increased to 50%: 150% damage taken by the enemy with the boots / 133% damage taken without = 1.128) I suppose this would be good for an Elementalist who does not want to invest in shock effect and just relies on the guaranteed 20% from Beacon of Ruin, which gets boosted to 30% by the boots. (Resulting in about 8% more damage.) I can't think of any remotely sensible situation where this item would double your effective damage. |

I don't see the point of a bonus on a bonus. If you're able to shock, it means your doing enough damage already to kill with. We really need added offense in this game?

Gotta be honest with you, I don't understand how shock works at all. I mean it used to make more sense when you could just stack up a bunch of shocks. But this version has always gone right over my head.
Well great, they aren't all that good because I'd rather wear something else anyway lol |
