Why do people sell uniques for 1 chrome or jeweller when vendor recipe gives you almost half alch?

because selling space is precious for the non-supporting part of the community they need to sell fast. which makes them lower prices all the time.

additionally, people have selling tabs which they reprice every day until they vendor the content. 1 alch is the last step before vendoring for most.
when repricing, it's a waste of time to dig out the uniques for some small gain.

I don't know what people do, but I know exactly, what I do after 1/3 of every league. Usually I pick up almost every unique and store them in quad tab stash, described "everything for 1 chaos". Then, if somebody want to buy any of them for 1c and I'am not on some valuable map (vaaled/with breaches and so), I can do deal. Why not. If I am on valuable map, then sorry, even not bother with responding.

All stashed uniques come handy in case, I have 5 for 1 prophecy (this way I collected at least 5 unique maps during last league) or I can sell them to vendoor while some alchemy shortage. Quite simple. If I can do that, other people can do it either, but they limit is 1 chrome or 1 jeweller. Premium stash tab as a trashcan and here we go:)

i think OP is asking why people bother selling for less than they would get from an npc vendor. so if space is so limited, it would make even more sense to just vendor for exalted alch orbs of kalandra

Probably good guys allowing other players to get vendor uniques for their niche builds for cheap.

why not? is the real question here!

For me the reason "why not" is.. because I cant be arsed to leave a map for less than a chaos.
That number goes up as time goes on.
Also I cant afford to clutter my tabs with 1 jewelers items.

If I could place things into an Auction House where by the item is automatically sold and removed.
Then I would place a lot more items on sale for lower amounts, and probably buy more stash tabs.

But with the current system, I just cant be arsed really.
