Path of Exile 1 Gameplay Help and Discussion - tips for keeping shaper alive? - Forum

I´ve done red Elders on T13-T15 numerous times with 3 different "melee" builds... molten strike, sunder, tectonic slam. To be honest, I didn´t even know the Shaper could die in the portal phases. So... Multi Strike, Ancestral Call (if possible), Warchief totem, Full flask uptime, very quick movement skill (whirling blades, shield charge) and of course a ton of dps. There have been plenty of streamers doing melee builds and crushing him. Check out Datmodz past videos. he was doing lots of red Elder runs (T13+) with Tectonic Slam. I have no problem crushing him, takes just a few half seconds to get him to portal phase, but for the love of all holy shaper takes like 3 hits and he is dead in 3.2 in 3.1 was never a problem same build. I burn / melt everything but if he gets scrapped a few times he is toast. Thanks for the blind / frost wall ideas. sucks they put this stupid rule in for 3.2 was like why? what did it accomplish but prove your stupid if you don't pick some OP ranged build. MS also has face melting deeps capable of taking down Elder in the last phase which is absolutely retarded come the Uber fight. You either have the dps to do it or you fail because once the place goes toxic, that's it. You die and you won't be able to even enter and live for more than 2s. Also remember that there is RNG involved. Some runs he'll clobber you. Other runs feel like a cakewalk. Don't assume it can't be done off a single instance (unless he melts you and you literally take 20m on the first phase, then no, it's not lol). guess we play different leagues. I play exclusively on hardcore leagues. I had 500c investment cycloner as league starter, that char didnt manage to save shaper on t14. Now I play GC miner (200c investment) killed t15 elder as oneshot between phases for 2 ppl. Also have necro spectre (~800c investment) oneshots t15 elder for 2 ppl lol.
