[3.2 WIP] Thicc Mage Skellie Necro, need advice
I've built a few necros over the past few leagues and usually optimized for damage which means the playstyle was one-shot before you get one-shotted. So this league I decided to go thicc without baron/zombies/montreguls and I'm loving it so far. Still working out the build and would like advice. Here's the gist:
Damage Skellie Mages - Spell Echo, Elemental Focus, GMP for open maps or Volley for narrow hallway maps, minion damage, pierce Spectre (solar guard) - Spell Echo, GMP, minion damage Anger - skellies are big mad Flesh Offering Elemental Weakness Basically same stuff as all the other builds except I won't be using necromantic aegis and I've given up trying to make zombies do damage with their trash AI. Defenses Memory Vault - new item I was curious about. Stacking mana + anger reserving 60% = ~1700 armor for me before passives. Mind Over Matter - OK I know this sounds counter intuitive to use with Memory Vault but my unreserved mana is over 30% of HP so we good. This also makes each point of added mana more valuable as it adds to MoM defenses + armor. Also armor + MoM makes regen for both life/mana more effective. Block/Shield Passives - sitting at 39% block with +60% recovery Stone Golem - regen Rest of defenses come from rares/passives. At level 80 still using tabula: 3800 life 3000 mana (1650 reserved) 30% damage taken from mana 570 energy shield 6000 armor (36% reduction at 80) 39% block 240 life regen 220 mana regen 75% elemental resists 56% chaos resist This heffa can take a hit. I've run maps up to T9 without any issues at all and the only reason I haven't done higher is due to map drops. I'm trying to finalize the build and need advice from more seasoned necros :). Questions: 1) I'm torn between prioritizing HP/mana or making room for block. I'm currently using Dark Seer which has +1 life/mana per level. If I switch to Advancing Fortress for 15% block, I can get to 71.5% block with bone offering and mistress of sacrifice when I get it. Thoughts? 2) I can't decide on a body armor. Right now I'm leaning towards the covenant to give skellies added chaos damage and 10% life. But I'm not sure the added chaos damage is worth the meh defenses. Any ideas on other body armors/rare mods that might add damage or if I should go defensive? 3) I'm sick of zombies. The AI sucks and without montreguls or baron they die when a monster farts on them. Spectres are not the main source of my damage so I was thinking of skipping zombies altogether and finding meat shield spectres. Have y'all tried this and had success with any spectres in particular? Eyeballing those shield charge dudes from Oriath or Kitava's Heralds. Any other general advice would be great, making this build up as I go :).
