AOE / Projectile discrepancy

I know this might not be the right league to bring this up, but here we go, I'll keep it short.

Almost all AOE skills need revisiting for + radius, if you want to keep the scaling on the area instead of the radius.

Projectiles need a definitiv NERF on their initial proj speed. If you want to clear 2 screens ahead, you gotta pay in skillpoints on the tree.

Ontop of it, we got less AOE multi on map mods. Where are Less proj speed mods on maps?
30 / 50 / 70 % less projspeed per white/yellow/red tier with a common occurence on rolling would finally balance out projs and aoe.

Its a joke that I can clear 2 whole screen with 1 FroBo Cluster trap 5l, while I'd need around 10~ uses of an Icetrap for the same feat.

This problem has been actively debated since early development. Projectile>AoE>>Melee is the design of the game and there's little that can be done about it at this point.

Reflect was nerfed because projectile offscreen needed a buff.
See shag is right, every step GGG took the last years was designed to buff ranged gameplay. From rare items mods on bows outclassing 2h Melee mods to aoe nerf to the xenon2 turret skills for ranged.

GGG probably sell a lot of stuff related to projectiles/bow so they will never nerf if.

It's a DIRECT result of AoE mechanics nerf.
When AoE scaling was based on area instead of radius, and almost all numerical values (for AoE increase) remained the same...
And projectile's range, speed, etc - werent touched.
What else could happen?

Just another example of how incompenent PoE's balancing team is.

I'm convinced that the only reason for the AoE nerf was to get Xbone performance within spec. (AoE queries are a lot more expensive than projectiles.)

So AoE will never be buffed again, the best you can hope for balance-wise is that projectiles will be nerfed too. But Lava Lake will be ported to the snowy tileset before that happens.

Wow, I had no idea this change had been made. Increased AoE sucks pretty bad now.

This is just false, the bow MTX's are absolutely horrid, specially the skills, specially because only lightning arrow/tornado shot/barrage are usable in this game. lmao

Unless they start giving extra damage (as in 2x or 3x the damage, yes, as in 100% or 200% MORE damage) against single targets (targets 20-30 radius far from any other enemies i guess) with skills like Ice-Shot (otherwise, they will never be able to compete with tornado shot/barrage).

Shrapnel shot is almost close to being useful if you waste a whole TWO (2) Jewel Slots for the threshold jewel, and that is, ONLY FOR MELEE/POINT BLANK RANGE.
