Cost of Micro-transactions seem... A little ridiculous
Saw the new celestial cat, I am a huge cat person, so I knew I had to have it.
Go and check the store, oh cool only 260 coins. Let's see how much that costs... $26?! Seriously?! For a little cute cat that follows you around? There seems to be no consistency across items either. Some pets are $3, some are $45. I realize that MTX in games target mostly whales, who pay for everyone else to play the game for free/cheap... But doesn't it seem like the pricing is a little scattered? Like, $5 per pet, $20 per armor set or something. And of course, you can't buy the amount of coins you need, you have to round up and end up spending $30 for the $26 kitty. Signed, the guy that is severely bootyhurt that he can't afford the cute kitty. Last edited by colexian#0049 on Mar 12, 2018, 3:49:52 PM Last bumped on Mar 13, 2018, 10:37:50 PM

I do agree that MTXs need to be looked at so people who are willing to put in a little money can afford something nice for themselves. Not everyone is willing nor able to shell out a DLC's worth of money for a single cosmetic.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! And the winds will cry / and many men will die / and all the waves will bow down / to the Loreley |

I don't mind the price of the MtX as they are (apart from stash tabs) all cosmetic and is their only income.
When I league comes out I spend 30$ and pretend I bought the expansion/DLC. Think about it. 4 leagues per year (approx) that's 120$ worth of supporter packs 15$/month on a subscription game like World of Warcraft and EvE Online, 180$... and let's be honest Path of Exile has the quality of an AAA game. also going to the movies for 2 hours costs me about 30$ per person (if you include tickets/food) so, in the end, it's cheaper to buy a supporter pack from GGG than to hold a yearly subscription of an MMORPG. what I do have a little problem is that it's always more costly than they advertise. a 420 point armor set is actually 450 points. I understand that is a marketing strategy to make you spend a little more Even if you can get a mystery box with the extra 30 points, it's still an expense you were not planning to make when you wanted to get the armor. It adds up 3$ here 2$ there multiplied by everyone who purchases points. Gift cards also work that way, Companies make so much money cuz most people never end up using 2-3$ left on the card. If things were priced much lower then this marketing tactic would be considered, the norm, but with high prices, it feels like they are double dipping. |

" How much should they cost ? Being a free to play game they got to price their MTX accordingly otherwise if you're spending more to make the MTX than what they sell them for we wont really have a game to play anymore...or not a good one Best thing to do is buy support packs. It costs more but you get a bunch of points (plus other stuff) to put towards future goodies. What really kills your wallet is spending $5-$20 to buy 5-200 points. It's not worth it and is only there for impulse buyers. Last edited by Ratedetar#0768 on Mar 12, 2018, 7:17:45 PM

" The problem is that your perception is wrong... You see this as 'buying the cat', but you're not... What you ARE doing is SUPPORTING THE GAME YOU PLAY FOR FREE with your money! As a side effect of that, you get some coins you can use for MTX. You SHOULD be spending like $30 every league if you like the game. It can't continue without the financial support of its players. You would then get a few MTX for 'free' every league... That's what I've done over the years... Support the game you play... and the cat is free... |

" That is a really really really bad pov to have. You are not "supporting the game" you are spending a lot of money for a tiny amount of data that costs them nothing to produce. Some tiny tiny pixels are not really worth spending 30 dollars on points, the price of entire games. They can literally pump these micro-transactions out of their butt every second to make money off children who don't know the value of money (like yourself) or that by simply not buying this new wave of them trying to milk children, we'd force the prices down. The only reason they can charge as much as they do, is because children pay the prices. That, or if you are so rich you don't care, but you fall under the "whale" category then, in which case, you're just ruining it for everyone else. POE is meant to be a "F2P" game. How exactly can that be accurate with your statement? |

" You call other people children when they support a product/developer they like but you have obviously never worked to provide yourself some food every day, at least not in a pixel-pushing department. |

theyre way too expensive.
maybe when there was like 30 things in the store it made a bit more sense, but theres so much stuff now its not like anyones getting to a point where theres nothing else they could get. Prices are absolutely insane and I say that as a person with a ton of disposable incoming living in one of the richest countries in the world, if its stupid expensive from where im sitting then its completely outrageous beyond all sense for an international game. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

" This. For the single armor piece or pet they charge few games worth of money from Steam. Its clearly a luxury. |
