Augury of penitence

I'm doing a lightning strike templar, and I'm a bit hesitating to take this node :

Nearby Enemies Take 16% increased Elemental Damage
Nearby Enemies deal 8% less Elemental Damage

From what i read it looks pretty low, I can easily have more than +16% increased elemental damage, even the node on the path to it is doing +10%. I'm probably missing something, can you explain please?

yes

it refers to enemy damage taken, not damage coming from you. it stacks with other similar monster side mods like shock, vulnerability, intimidate etc

people usually have tons of increased damage, so another 16% wont make much difference. on the contrary, modifiers to enemy damage taken are not common so this one is usually a big deal.

Thanks for your reply.

But with inevitable judgement resistances of the enemy are ignored, which means basically if I do 100 ele dmg with a node +10% elemental dmg I will get 110 and the mob will take these damages which would be the equivalent of doing 100 dmg with enemies take increased ele dmg of 10%. So I'm not sure if it's so good at the end.

It's a monster debuff. If you have no others, it's pretty much a 16% more modifier. It applies after all your damage increases.

This is the important part. It's also why Intimidate is so good, despite being "only" 10% increased damage taken.
Modifiers on monsters are always multiplicative to modifiers on your end. If you have 100 damage and 100% increased damage, another 10% increased damage on YOUR end would result in the monster getting hit for 210 damage. However, 10% increased damage taken on the MONSTER would result in it taking 220 damage from the hit.

Those 16% are a HUGE damage boost. It's half a support gem worth of damage and on top of it the node also offers some nice defence.
I make dumb builds, therefore I am.
Ok thanks a lot for your help guys, I may go for it then =)
