are orb of alteration mods restricted?

are there mods that can't be rolled with an orb of alteration?

i just used 140+ orbs (i think probably closer to 200) chasing an explicit chaos resist....and nada? i was tempted to keep going but decided i wasn't curious enough to lose all my orbs and potentially still not have an answer.

(not a drama - not stressing about chaos resist itself, just curious)

edit - tried on a level 63 ring and 65 amulet

edit again....never mind...threw another stack of orbs at it and finally got a chaos resist...lol

Ya the rng is bad, thats nothing though, I used over 25,000 alts to make my ring and belt. Isolating the t1 shaped or elder roll you need and t1 life is soul crushing.

omg....i don't imagine even accumulating 25k alts, let alone using them. that's dedication!
Some mods are actually less likely to roll than other mods. Chaos res being one of those mods.

Also keep in mind, when using alts/augs , you will always have one prefix AND one suffix. Never two suffix or two prefix from alts/augs.So say for example you rolled Lightning resistance(suffix) with an alt, you would never then get chaos res with your augmentation orb.

There are mods you can only get from Essences... so just seeing something on an item doesn't mean you can get it with Alts. You should also check the ilvl of the item vs the ilvl required for the mod you want. You might be using too low of a base item.

Check POEdb for percentage chance of getting a certain roll. For example, chaos resist is 4x (0.47% per tier) harder to roll on chests as compared to elemental resist (1.88% per tier).

Also as the post above, check the ilvl of the item to see if it is high enough to get your desired roll. POEdb would show this as well.
thanks for the responses. i now understand more than i did yesterday.
