A quick question about Bino's Kitchen Knife, very confused

Does Bino's actually deal any poison or chaos damage itself?

If so, is there any way to make the poison ticks do more damage?

If not, is there a way to make Bino's apply poison on hit?

If I want to do a DOT build with bleeds and poisons using two Bino's what gems do you suggest?

And finally, could somebody please give me a quick run down about the differences of poison/chaos damage?

I'm new so sorry for the long post. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Poison is secondary "damage over time" type of damage.

fire damage can cause ignite

physical damage can cause bleeding/poison

and chaos damage can cause poison
(note that both physical and chaos damage sources are capable of applying poison)

It requires % to poison investment in either gear/passives and usually an investment in the poison mechanic itself as-well.(to get any results)

I would not recommend it since it is pretty weak in the current game-state.

If your still interested it might be wise to do a search on youtube for something like
"3.2 abyss poison build" to look what's currently playable.

You will need to combine some very specific items and passive points to make it work, so if that doesn't bother you go and educate yourself.

Weapons don't deal damage, skills do. Any skill which has a chance to poison (from the skill itself, support gems, skill tree, or items) and deals non-zero physical or chaos damage can inflict poison.

Bino's Knife by itself does not grant any chance to poison however. It will only spread poison if you kill an enemy that has already been poisoned.

Poison does not deal damage in ticks, it is continuous damage over time. Anything that increases poison damage, damage over time (such as one of the modifiers on Bino's), chaos damage, or damage with ailments will scale the damage done by poison.

Chaos damage is one of five damage types: fire, cold, lightning, physical, and chaos.

Damage over time is one of four damage sources: attack, spell, damage over time, and secondary damage. (Note that poison is not secondary damage as the above poster claims.)

Poison is an ailment that causes the affected target to take Chaos Damage over Time. But there are other sources of chaos damage and other sources of damage over time that are not poisons.
