PoE compared to Diablo 2 ?
The biggest difference between POE and Diablo 2 simply put is:
POE Power = gear Diablo 2 Power = skill (tree) also POE punishes you for liking the game and wanting to play it again. By that i mean that you get an experience penalty if you go to lower level areas, game pushes you to play maps. While in Diablo2 the whole Hell difficulty could be used as an Endgame leveling playground ZiggyD is the Labyrinth of streamers, some like it, some dont, but GGG will make sure to push it down ur throat to make you like it Last edited by Sexcalibure#7575 on Feb 20, 2018, 11:21:09 AM

" Which aspect(s) of Blessed Hammer do you most miss? GGG seems to absolutely hate direct copies of other creative content, so it's very unlikely that you'll see 100% faithful Blessed Hammer in POE. I never played blessed hammer, but you already have a very similar equivalent in Vaal Spectral Throw + a hammer-appearing weapon. If you're missing the magic damage/non-weapon-scaling component, you can opt for Blade Vortex instead. If Blade Vortex doesn't have the range you're looking for, there's Ethereal Knives + Ring of Blades. Need game info? Check out the Wiki at: https://www.poewiki.net/

i would say to 1. it is about the same, back in d2 you rushed specific area chest for specific loot (highrunes/ lk runs for example, usually in full partys for the drop multi while the others do something else, like br, nila, dia or pes and so on), here you can grind div cards with iiq gear if you want some specific loot.
for leveling i think (this is only my opinion) the teamplay in highlvl baalruns for 99 had a greater tactical depth, i mean your team usually had roles like in mmo's, runners, supporters, cleaners, bosskillers that prepare specific instances and so on to ensure that the guy who goes for 99 get all the boss xp with xp shrines and the party get the juicy drops and the mob xp instead without the need to extent the time per run. sure you could simply leech some open low quality baals and eventually reach 99 within a ladder with enough time investment but thats not the top of the ladder style ;D ...then its boring and grindy and to get out some good drops are more luck dependent. poe on the other hand with its map system offers much more fun for solo players but not so much for partys for the lategame xp grind (then again this is only my opinion, i personally often wish for an as deep as d2 endgame party experience). for 2. you dont require a starter build, it however can speed up your progress. i love both games and poe has it's own aspects where it outshine other arpg-style games. i encourage you to give it a try ;) |

" Vaal Spectral throw would be very close but it's not spammable -.- something along the line of vaal spectral throw visually, but mechanically more like blade vortex. for example: I would love a unique jewel that changes spectral throw to something mechanically akin to blessed hammer. |

" You consider those 100% direct copies - teksuoPOE doesn't consider the first one to be a 100% direct copy, already showing that it's a matter of opinion. Probably not worth the effort for me to argue on other points, maybe someone else will come in and discuss Kitava movesets or shield mechanics. Need game info? Both very grindy.
PoE - You grind PvE content to achieve PvE progress. Diablo 2 - You grind PvE coontent for PvP development. At least from my experience. |

Diablo 2 had free mtx.. when you combined certain set items you got something epic looking character!
I dislike rarity so much im almost quitting poe2. GGG.

D2 was way more grindy. Leveling in baal runs non stop from lowest level possible until 90+...

" 1) In D2 when you level up, you farm usually bosses to get loot + experience. Regards runes its easier to join d2jsp, provide service and sell loot there for fg and buy runes. In PoE during leveling you focus mainly on getting experience and avoiding to die. Basically you try to drop currency to buy items on poe.trade. If you find interesting loot than its usually only good to sell. With enough currency you buy gear and you provide service and max your character. Respectively in D2 you farm bosses + gaining exp and buy/sell/provide services on d2jsp. In PoE you gain exp + buy items on poe.trade. In that sense PoE is more grindy as you basically care only about not loosing exp. In D2 you felt you are growing in power and speed. In PoE you usually only level up and skip bosses till you have enough stat points + currency to kill them fast enough. 2) Yes. But in D2 those classes are fun and can do whole content, you are returning to them. In PoE you usually do not return to those builds and rather you take them only to enjoy game later when you have enough currency to get gear. |
