[3.1] RF+BV Inferno Berserker [T16/Shaper]



Build Design: Use Righteous Fire (RF) for fast clearing, and use Blade Vortex (RF) for harder monsters. By converting BV damage from physical to fire, it can benefit from decreased fire resistance and elemental damage multipliers shared with RF. Berserker ascendancy provides more damage, as well as utility through instant regeneration and leech.

Convert Blade Vortex (BV) damage from physical to fire using Avatar of Fire (AoF) and uniques:
Hrimsorrow + Pyre

+50% physical to fire with AoF
50% physical to cold with Hrimsorrow
50% cold to fire with AoF (+25% phys to fire)
40% cold to fire with Pyre (+20% phys to fire)
Totals to 95% fire conversion

Watcher's Eye + Anger
+50% physical to fire with AoF
+35% physical to fire with Watcher's Eye
Totals 85% fire conversion (plus some fire damage)

-Shaper weapons can also roll with physical damage added as extra fire

-Elder helmets can roll with supports, making effective 6-links very affordable

-Immolate is one of the best supports for BV, but is undervalued because of the "burning" requirement

-Enemies will always be considered "burning" due to Righteous Fire (RF)
-RF gives 39% more spell damage (7-link for BV), while dealing >200k DPS itself
-BV can proc Elemental Oath, giving 40% more elemental damage to both RF and BV
-Stack fire damage and -fire resistance to benefit both RF and converted BV

Normal DPS: >900k DPS


Shaper DPS: >450k DPS

New Elder items have "+x% Increased Life Recovery Rate", which is a multiplier to both life regeneration and life leech. Perfect rolls for Vitality on Watcher's Eye (30%) and Elder belt (20%) will give 50% more life recovery, so 20% life/sec will be 30% life/sec (for both life regeneration and leech)

Berserker
1. Instant 25% HP heal through war cries (Warbringer)
2. 40% more damage (Aspect of Carnage)
3. Global life/mana leech (Pain Reaver)

Each node in the Berserker skill tree is essential to making the build work. The Warbringer passive turns war cries into instant 25% heals, which is useful for sustaining RF and surviving burst damage. The global life/mana leech removes any mana issues with maintaining BV stacks, and which back-loads damage to leech life when damage is taken. The biggest caveat is the 10% increased damage taken from both hits, including RF degeneration. This causes incoming damage to be spiky, so it requires a lot more dodging. Other ascendancies have better defensive options, and could choose Eramir for extra 2 points.

Other possible options:

Chieftain
1. Increased life regen (Ramako)
2. Fire life leech (Hinekora)
3. Increased fire penetration and damage (Hinekora, Arohongui)
4. Reduced damage taken near totem (Arohongui)

I tried making this RF+BV build the previous league with a Chieftain because of the extra fire damage and life regen. The lack of mana leech or the Shaper/Elder items made the build feel lackluster and clunky. The main issue was sustaining mana, otherwise Chieftain would be a great choice.

Inquisitor
1. Higher consecrated ground up-time (Sanctify)
2. Increased damage and cast speed (Pious Path, Instruments of Virtue, Augury of Penitence)
3. Reduced elemental damage taken (Augury of Penitence)

Inquisitor would also be an option with the additional elemental damage and life regen nodes, as well as the bonus cast speed. It would be difficult to commit to crit multi within this build, but the other nodes are quite useful. Like Chieftain, sustaining mana would be an issue.

Asendant (Slayer/Inquisitor)
1. Effective +20% life regen with leech
2. Reduced elemental damage on consecrated ground

This is a large deviation from Berserker, but it would be much stronger defensively. The strongest part of the Slayer is the leech overcap, however the other Slayer nodes wouldn't be too beneficial. Ascendant can choose the Slayer bonus to get the leech overcap, while also choosing another bonus. One choice is the Inquisitor path, which provides 8% reduced elemental damage taken on consecrated ground, which includes RF degeneration. By decreasing RF degen, net life regen increases.


Equipment

A Shaper scepter with high elemental damage, extra fire damage, fire penetration, and cast speed. Try to get >30% extra fire damage, which shouldn't be over 15 chaos.


+5% max fire resistance; no other choice here.


Kaom's is the obvious choice for RF builds because of the big +500 HP and nice fire damage. On a budget, Carcass Jack is a great choice for the area damage and size which will benefit both RF and BV. Another possible choice would be an Elder chest with "x% of Physical Damage Taken as Fire".


An Elder helmet with Concentrated Effect and Immolate support to socketed gems. This will give BV an effective 6-link. There isn't too much difference between lvl 16 and lvl 20, but of course try to get the highest. The ideal helmet would also be crafted with an Essence of Horror (30% More Elemental Damage) for a 7-link, but that would be quite expensive.

If not using Kaom's Heart, then RF can be set into the Elder helmet with Concentrated Effect and Burning Damage supports.


Gloves crafted with Essence of Delirium for "30% More Damage Over Time" to 5-link RF. Try to get good life and resistance rolls. Also a spot to craft dexterity to meet requirements for BV.

Alternate is Hrimsorrow to convert from physical to cold to fire damage, in combination with Pyre ring and Avatar of Fire.


Impresence (fire version) seems designed precisely for RF builds. It has high life, life regen, and fire resistance. More interestingly, the free Flammability aura (effective 44% more fire damage) is a huge damage boost, while the Impresence aura (10% slow and reduced damage to enemies) is a nice defensive boost.

A budget choice would be a Marble Amulet rolled with high life and stats. Another possible choice would be an Elder amulet, which can roll fire leech, extra fire damage, and +% life regen.


Rings to fill out life, resistances, and dexterity. Use Opal Rings if resistances can be capped.
Pyre completes fire conversion, and also provides some burning damage.


An Elder belt with "20% increased life recovery rate". I got lucky with really nice resistance rolls, but I would prioritize getting the life recovery.


Boots with high life, resistance, and movement speed. Best enchant is "2% life and mana per second if hit recently". Kaom's Roots is really nice to run labs and temporal chains maps, while providing huge life, and stun/freeze immunity. The only issue is that it starves sockets and resistances.




-Ruby flask for +6% max fire resistance, which decreases RF degeneration to increase net life regen. 81% fire res to 87% fire res is 5.4% less life/second
-Rumi's provides nice armor and block, and is also very cheap
-Wise Oak provides fire penetration for BV and reduced damage from cold or lightning
-Silver flask for clear speed and ramping up BV stacks
-Sulphur flask for damage boost and consecrated ground (6% life/second)

Jewels

Watcher's Eye with "30% increased life recovery rate while affected by Vitality". Anger is a nice bonus, but not necessary.

Meeting the 155 dexterity for BV is an annoying requirement since the tree doesn't get too many dexterity nodes. Fill out with jewels, crafted dexterity, or +30 dexterity nodes.
