How to price value of shaped/elder items?
|
Tala Moana Warriors!
So I have been getting a lot of Shaped/Elder item drops. I was wondering how i can properly evaluate the stats of the item mods and price them correctly. For example I just found this ![]() Seems pretty nice to me, but have no idea how to price it. Also is nice that its already 3 socketed links as a one hand mace. Appreciate any tips/advice! Worthless. The fact it has multistrike adds little value to the item since its still just a 4 link and the raw dps is not that high for a mace.

Many people assume that just because an item has a bunch of built-in supports it is automatically going to be worth a lot. This is absolutely not the case. Especially since these items tend to be one-handed weapons, which can obviously only roll 3 sockets.
In order for the item to actually be desirable, a 3-link setup with whatever gems come with the item would have to be better than a standard 6-link in your chestpiece. Considering that you will pretty much never get exactly the optimal support gems, and that they will not be at level 20 or with quality, this is almost never the case. And if the gems are not worth actually using for your main damage skill, they lose their usefulness very rapidly. Thus the value of any built-in support gems is very circumstantial at best, and negligible in most cases. If an item isn't at least very good if you ignore the supports, it is not going to be amazing with them. |

Ah okay!
I'm still relatively new to poe, been playing for a month XD but love the game. So with shaped and elder items (along with good mods) the only real valuable ones are 6L items? Is there a place where I can check the stat tier? |

Also what are the, lets says, categories to look at when pricing items?

" No there are good versions of weapons and other none 6 link items. You just need to get good mods on it. Last edited by sfbistimg#7663 on Jan 5, 2018, 12:30:27 AM

Pricing is probably the most difficult part of PoE, you need to be aware of what builds are good/popular and what mods they need, what items can roll those mods and at what item level... this cannot be explained in a forum post.
As a new player I'd say best not worry about it, put any interesting items you find in a public tab, if you get messages it's a good item worth looking up, if not just vendor it after a few days. | |

Zed_ - most of the people are pming only about priced items though.
