[Suggestion] New Sextant System

The Problem:

Sextants are in a weird place. They are lucrative when you master the mechanics, but they are also confusing and expensive to new players. I have heard complaints from experienced players saying the Sextant system is a necessary evil to map efficiently, while casual players don't understand how to use them at all. All players should find the system to be rewarding and straight-forward. That is where the current Sextant system has missed the mark.

Also, the War of the Atlas has put Sextants users at a disadvantage. People running a "Sextant Blocked" Atlas rarely interact with the War of the Atlas mechanics due to large portions of their Atlas being un-usable. Any new system needs to fix this problem, as this content is meant to played throughout normal mapping endeavors.

-----------------------------------------------

My ideas for a new Sextant System:

The Map Device now has Sextant sockets. Map bosses will have a chance to drop a colored Archaeologist Orb, which permanently adds 1 socket to that colored Sextant pool (up to some max number of sockets). The idea for Archaeologist Orb's are to be as rare as a Divine Vessel and un-tradeable, so they will be hard to get.

Each color of maps has it's own Sextant socket pool. So white/yellow/red maps can be given different Sextants at the same time. Sextants in the Map Device can be active or inactive by player choice, meaning Sextants will either count towards a map tier or not when a map is consumed.

I envision an interface on the Map Device that allows the player to quickly activate all socketed Sextants, deactivate all Sextants, or individually activate Sextants for a particular map tier. This will reduce the need to constantly swap in/out Sextants every map.

Each Sextant now has 10 charges and can be crafted in a magic-only tier (similar to magic flasks). Sextants can drop as white or magic. Sextants will be as rare as Regal Orbs, and Zana will sell a single, unidentified Sextant per day for Chisels. The color of the Zana Sextant is dependent on her master level.

There are two different types of Sextants: Mob Sextants and Mob Support Sextants:

1) Mob Sextants introduce additional mobs into the map. Any mods like contains additional animals, Rogue Exiles, Breaches, etc. would be included in this list. The better the mod, the higher the tier until it drops.

2) Mob Support Sextants add additional offensive/defensive mods for monsters added by Mob Sextants. These mods are additive with any map mods rolled. Support Mob Sextants also give additive quantity and rarity for these new packs, with much larger numerical values over normal map mods for quanity and rarity.

-----------------------------------------------

Why this System is Better:

1) This system will incrementally introduce players to the Sextant system via boss kills, just like the other map mechanics (Shaper orbs, etc).

2) Maps will get a socket system that is similar to the Skill Gem system. This should increase people's understanding of what Sextants will do to their maps. Also, you can play around with adding several additional packs of mobs, or making the occasional pack dangerous loot pinatas.

3) Using the Map Device as a Sextant bank does not region-lock a player into running only a few maps for a whole league. Current Sextant Blocking strategies don't benefit from the War of the Atlas.

4) This also affects players with different character builds. Currently, if you choose to Sextant Block maps for a bow character that excels at open fields, will you want to make a Cycloner that excels in narrow spaces? Having a Sextant bank will allow you to quickly swap between characters without interruption.

5) I think everyone would agree that Sextants having 3 uses is a massive downside to them currently. New players will never justify spending currency to run 3 maps, while experienced players know they can make significantly more money with the currency sink upfront. Allowing them to be crafted still has a currency sink, but will make it more justifiable and easier to interact with for new players.

6) GGG loves loot. Giving Sextants magic rolls gives control to the player, and fills up our stash tabs. It is a win-win for all involved.
