Multistrike vs faster attacks
So im leveling with the onichan sword and frost blades with 47.5% crit and multistrike and i noticed it to severely lack in damage if it doesnt hit. For example i attack once and if it doesnt crit, the ignite doesnt trigger her embrace and multi strikes 2 more times without even killing the pack. But if i used faster attack i'd get a second chance at crit and the pack would die in 2 hits instead of 3 from multi. Is it worth keeping lvlin multi till i get higher crit? Or do i just swap to faster. I plan to transition to reave at 65

Everything lacks in damage if it doesn't hit :P
Assuming you meant "doesn't crit" instead? That's a build issue, not a Multistrike issue. Multistrike is generally always worth more DPS than Faster Attacks is; not only is Multistrike a much larger overall boost, it's a 'More' attack speed modifier rather than an 'Increased' modifier like Faster Attacks is. That 'More' means Multistrike gets even better the more IAS you get, while the impact of Faster Attacks on your build diminishes with each new source of attack speed you add. If you're using Onii-Chan whilst leveling and you can't gib packs with it? Investigate your build. There's no reason whatsoever that a 6L sword with Onii-Chan's stats shouldn't be pwnooblerating its way to maps. Secondary note: crit almost always underperforms during early leveling, as well. Your crit chance is low, your crit multiplier is low, and the damage you're dealing to crit with is also lower. Trying to build crit early on instead of life or base/raw damage means your initial-hit damage will be too low for anemic early-game crit to really help it. Onii-Chan can compensate for a lot of Bad Build-itis in the early levels (as can a Tabula Rasa, for the same reason), but even it has limits. She/Her

Do you mean Oni-Goroshi? The only reason I can see Faster Attacks working better than Multi-Strike is because your damage per hit will be higher with Faster Attacks, Multi-Strike takes away some of your damage on each hit. Since Wiki is bugged, I can't read the mechanics on ignite. Maybe there's an ignite threshold you're not reaching when you use Multi-Strike.

I have fire damage and 0 ignite, so i can only hope for my 47.5 % to crit

Did you try switching to something like Molten Strike? Get your fire damage up.

" Doesn't matter. The guy's using Oni-Goroshi (affectionaly 'Onii-Chan'); he needs to ignite frequently in order to maintain Her Embrace, which is what he's saying he's not doing with Frost Blades. The actual Ignite damage is kinna immaterial; he needs the actual act of Igniting to get his stuff going. Multistrike is streaky; a ~50% crit rate is normally just fine for maintaining crit-based Ignites, but Multistrike amplifies every roll. Go two or three rolls in a row with no crit and Her Embrace falls off and leaves you stranded. Adri: just use Chance to Ignite. CtI is rolled independently of crit and is rolled for every hit you make - with a CtI gem in Frost Blades I can damn near guarantee you'll be Igniting often enough that the Goddess will love you lots. if you can't maintain Ignites via critting, then maintain them another way. Onii-Chan has links to spare, ne? She/Her Last edited by 1453R#7804 on Jan 2, 2018, 5:21:43 PM

I'd just dump Multi personally. It's pretty bad against packs anyways because they get obliterated in one hit, wastes time. Additionally, Multistrike is what gets you killed against Izaro.
Becomes a more relevant Support at high levels, mind. Support Gem levels and higher Increased Attack Speed both make a pretty decent difference for Multi's effectiveness. Diamond Flasks also help a bunch, actually. Last edited by Vipermagi#0984 on Jan 2, 2018, 8:11:49 PM

Reach out and touch hate.

" Because Herald of Ash doesn't Ignite anything. Was changed back in 3.0. |
