Vaal Pyramid map boss encounter extreme difficulty
Today, I ran into that this for the first time in this league and it felt rippy because of the odd AoE damage one of them does. The whole fight becomes dangerous, only because the AoE damage becomes screen filling, can stun-lock you, and the mob creating it moves really fast.
Beside of this, I would agree that this boss is not a big deal. Actually, it is a salted version of 'Nuke them down and move on.' *sigh* I wonder why this dps check must have 8-10 second timer till next spawn. This is a very short period of time to anticipate anything the boss does. If GGG wants us to kill stuff without realising what we kill then this boss is a perfect match. Otherwise, it might be interesting to get a more inspired version of this boss. :) Btw. killing them once at dominus doesn't help alot to remember them in a totally different environment If this is an important test for further content then it should feel more important! IMHO it would be much better, if both spawn time and HP are increased propotionally and there would be a hint to kill them fast. I like the statement in GGG's presentation on labyrith's trap design that there always should be a hint for the player. How about putting dominus voice calling each of them to rise again and making an increasing effect indicating that something is about to spawn in? Just letting them pop up out of nothing is kind of cheesy. Let's explore new playstyles - Play it your own way, not just like the others.

the aoe attack is reave.
its just a boss encounter that deals attack damage, ppl tend to ignore attack mitigation like armour, evasion and block thats why they get destroyed by bosses like this who should be fairly simple. The reason a lot of bigwig players ignore those stats is because they 1 shot the world and hence dont need them, if uve not got that sort of dps then ud better get the mitigation to last in a fight like this. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

" I had a map with aoe 100%, added light and cold. The reave guy hits pretty hard |

" Thank you for pointing out. This makes sense to me. Actually, my build mitigates attacks primarily with enfeeble, maneuverbility, and additional armour on flask, but on that particular boss this strategy reaches its limits. The boss is definitely killable but can be salty if attacks are a weak spot of the build. To improve my defence, I am thinking of creating chilled ground by using arctic breath linked with CWDT and multiple projectiles. Maybe this will make the difference. I will give it a try. Anyway, there is always a boss or mod that can crush you more likely than others. Knowing them and why helps a lot. Thanks again for giving directions. :) Let's explore new playstyles - Play it your own way, not just like the others.

" Umm i've been doing up to t13 with about the same. Also the boss is pretty easy, i'm by no means a good player and you can just derp away on this one without any trouble, the only time it may cause problems is if your DPS is really low(like under 80k) Ancestral Bond. Well for a ranger i can say traps are realy underestimated, just trow couple of them and should do the trick.
I mostly MF that map for div cards, i got some ghetto cluster trap mirror arrow setup instead of decoy totem, depend on bow and such can do damage and be decent distraction. Or just go for Big guns like Blast rain and nuke them as they show up. Just for reference i do have like 3.5K HP and 45% resist on average, can be rippy i seen it many times but good flask management and distractions can do the trick as they hardly got one shot potential.
