Vaal Pyramid map boss encounter extreme difficulty
How in the world am I expected to deal with the three bosses? Stopping even for a moment to fire at any of them rips half my 4,100 health off. They can't be kited because all three are easily the fastest moving enemies I have ever encountered in 1,100 hours of play time in the game.
I'm a ranger with a lot of run speed and at least one of the three runs faster than I can with six frenzy charges and onslaught The encounter is utterly insane. Stopping long enough to deploy even a single totem or fire a single shot gets my face caved in by ~2000 points of damage! I died fewer times to A10 Kitava than I have in this fight! The difficulty is preposterously out of line with its tier. The encounter feels like one of those uber-powerful optional bosses you find in JRPGs, only slapped down in a non-optional area. I can not hurt any of them without dying. Just so we're clear, my map properties have NOT included increased speed. These guys are at their default, unmodified run and attack speed. They're outrunning a ranger whose build uses greatly increased movement speed. I feel like a mentally disabled parapalegic man trying to fight The Flash. In the time it takes for me to say "I like trwains" The Flash liquifies my internal organs with 9,473 gut punches, scribbles "Loser" on my face with a magic marker, then carves my tombstone and jams it through my ear canal as my liquified organs flash boil and spray out of my eye sockets. I can not understand how this fight made it into the finished game. Or how it has existed like this for so long. Or why in god's name this is a tier 8 boss battle. Or why someone thought it was a good idea to have "allies move faster" in the same group as an "enemies are slowed" mob. What build was this fight balanced against?! You're literally one of the first people to die to this.

I've found complaints of a similar nature elsewhere.
Dunno what to say. Someone in chat called Vaal Pyramid boss a DPS check, which would be sensible.. if I wasnt completing Tier 10 maps without issue. I've got the DPS to kill the Courtyard(? Cannibal Chimera thing) boss despite his constant cannibalism heal. Just this one specific boss encounter seems designed to rip my ranger into tiny bite-sized portions with ease. First time I tried Vaal Pyramid boss was during Mayhem with an axe sunder duelist. Spent all six portals dying to the boss, once immediately on moving after portaling in. I assumed some crazy Mayhem modifier was causing it since it felt spectacularly out of place. Only other time in Mayhem that I had that much trouble was when Megaera got possessed by an ungodly number of spirits. Each subsequent attempt has been during Abyss League as a ranger. I've been able to take on every other map boss I've met so far. |

Seconding this thread.
I thought i had some crazy yellow mods on the map my first time, but i got shredded the 2nd and 3rd time. |

Yeah, if you don't have enough damage to kill the first one before the second one shows up, it's pretty rippy. Also I think one of them does chaos damage with some kind of viper strike, decoy totem can really help to let you focus them down as they spawn though.

They spawn one at a time. You have to kill them before the next one spawns or it gets way too hard really fast. Luckily, it's not that hard to do that.
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

" Yeah, right. I can't count on my fingers and toes the times people have asked me to help them finish this map. Censored.

" yeah. youve got DPS. hooray for you. now get other stats as well 4100 hp? doing tier 8 maps? you should be in act 10 still with this lifepool this is nice example of 'content entitlement' created by TERRIBLE balance this game has 'i can plow T10 maps' (sure you can, our dps is trough the roof, mobs do not fight back, people offscreen them with ease. mostly said by ranged players) so i should be able to clear stuff well, you can do T10 due to bug in a game - that bug is called balance-fiasco. the only thing that works right now is the boss encounter (esp in this patch, when the mods on them FINALLY work), everything else is shooting unarmed XP globes there is no difference between Act10 final area and T10 mobs in maps. there is literally no difference - you 1shot them without any fear. why do we have first ten tiers of maps? hint: get yourself some defences, build a proper character, use flasks and youll forget about this |

Back in the day you might have had an point op sinds it was a t3 and all 3 spawned at once,as a new player this was such a bullshit fight for its tier they rightfully changed it to a higher tier.
But now that it is a t8 and they dont spawn all at once i dunno its realy not that hard anymore. [Removed by Support]
Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them “The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” |

I strongly disagree about the "extreme" difficulty of this boss fight, but looking at some of the replies I feel a bit sorry for the OP.
Still, if your DPS is as high as you say, then that second and third boss should never have a chance to spawn in while you're still fighting the first. And a 4.1k health pool does seem rather low. You may want to check resistances, as well. Dead men deal no damage. |
