[3.1] Soul's WIck Spectres
I came upon this jewel in a drop from a Crimson Temple map last night and found it pretty interesting.
Has anyone tried playing around with it yet? I was thinking of trying something along the lines of Baron / Victario's Charity / Soul's Wick / Undending Hunger. Last bumped on Feb 20, 2018, 2:17:45 PM

Bump, because also curious.

I had an idea with it (and two other criminally underrated minion uniques) earlier and will likely test it in the next few days.
Then again, don't expect too much... 90% of my builds are somewhere between atrocious and unplayable by normal standarts. I make dumb builds, therefore I am.

Bump. I started my last Abyss character with the intent to make a Soul's Wick Summoner, around act 9 I gave up and just went back to Solaris Temple and picked up Solar Guards. As you can imagine the vast amount of varied enemies makes for a really volatile damage output and frankly it was just too much of a hassle to be worth it for me. Having a few Solar Guards or Kitava's Heralds felt incredible but most mobs are just straight up useless as spectres. If all spectre AI was much more aggressive I guess it could be fun.
Another huge problem is certain bossfights, when you've only access to the severely limited mob pool imposed by the area. Ascending this character was an abject nightmare since the only available mob in the Aspirants Trial are the useless skellies the Goddess spawns. I'm really disappointed, I loved the idea of the gem and I think it's by far the most creative threshold jewel in the game. I guess you can make it work as a casual mapper once you have all the gear for a regular spectre summoner, as long as you stick to maps. Otherwise the established spectre archetypes are so far superior I can't even recommend it for the novelty factor. |
