Shaper's Origin Story [Spoilers]

So I just read https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1312742 which makes sense when he said back in Act3 "This World is an Illusion, Exile".

I listened to the memory fragments on youtube. But something isn't clear. Someone told me he went crazy (probably from being "trapped in eternity"? He sounds like a hero in the memory fragments. Yet he is a very difficult end game boss who is trying to kill his own daughter and reshape her, only to say "You were my greatest creation" when you kill him.

What is the big gap I am missing where he is protecting her to trying to destroy her?

Yes I am asking for spoilers. I have been playing this game for hours and progressing only as far as my skill can allow. My level is 63 and I cannot take on lvl 68 maps yet, but that's another topic.

Im by no means an expert on PoE lore, but its not Shaper you are quoting - its Dominus the High Templar.

I thought the shaper just wander into maps while he was trying to get to country kitchen buffet...
I dont see any any key!
some years ago i realy cared about the lore in poe but ggg changes stuff via ninja moves and there is no "not everything is true, but everything is canon" like games workshop does it (for exemple) :(

for the case you like the shaper lore you find, better write it down :D i should have done that to, realy miss some old lore fragments.
"don't worry GGG, it's ok!"

Is https://youtu.be/7GoT-deZXpA what you are talking about? Or are you saying the story gets rewritten slightly every generation like how the opening was changed from them sharing their stories on a boat to being put on trial when you pick your character? Or something else that was changed for the ascendancy (I'm told it was different before)?

Doninus is describing the reality of Wraeclast and Oriath as he knows more about it then you do (more then your character).

It's possible I am putting more weight on canon then is there. The story draws me in.

After the last memory fragment, the shaper is just literally trapped in the dream world (maps) for years. Even if we assume the linear passage of time, he's been wandering and amassing power since zana was 10 or so.

We don't know literally an exact point where he went insane. It's a process, right? He's been losing his mind all along. That's subtext you just need to accept: if you get stuck in a world where you have power over objects but no chance to interact with other sentient life forms, you will eventually go insane.

Nothing like atziri who timelocked herself out of an already-insane desire to become immortal :P

Yes, yes, you're very salty about it not being 2012 anymore.
