Arc crit criticism please for abyss league

Hey guys, I was just kinda making a basic beginners build to start abyss with and i was thinking of using arc. this is the build i came up with. can someone take a look and tell me what they think please?

i plan on using just a wand and a sheild. ive just never played a arc build and i dont really see any in the forums.

any help would be appreciated.

On your tree, you can save 2 points by picking up the int-node just below the witch jewel, and dropping those near Blunt Trauma, Whispers of Doom and Corruption.

If you go crit, you really want a spelldagger over a wand, it gives more crit.
Also has the added advantage of being able to use shield charge or whirling blades for movement.

The Melding cycle is really really bad for life. With those 4 points, you can pick up devotion instead, giving your more like, additional strength, and some aura-efficiency. It also puts you closer to the templar jewel node. With an additional point, you get 6% more life with the other 6% life node next to devotion.
You also did not pick up Blood Siphon and Soul Siphon, even though they are right next to your path.

You pick up elemental overload while going crit. This makes no sense at all as it reduces your crit multi to 0, making all nodes and items you invest into crit absolutely useless.
If you want to use elemental overload, pick up no crit-nodes/items at all and just drop an orb of storms, that will keep elemental overload completely on its own without any investment into crit.
If you go crit, you need to put much more emphasis on crit multi over crit chance: The other side of doom cast is much stronger than the one you skilled. Arcane Potency is superior to Annihilation. You definitely want to pick up Throat Seeker.


I played around a bit with arc assassin for 3.1 as well, if you want some more inspiration.
This is planned for using double void batteries, no MoM, and the new chest (which makes shocked enemies explode for damage, hence the area-nodes), which will probably require more expensive gear (Void Batteries, better life on gear due to no MoM).

Though that is not refined either and has some mechanics of which i'm not quite sure if they will work out as intended (i.e. orb of storms getting kills to enable onslaught and either frenzy charges (icebite support) or innervation (innervate support).

I'll probably play Occultist instead (orb of storms with culling to activate) on a similar tree.
