Got Starforge on My First Ever Shaper Kill, Frostank (Frostbolt)
|
I made a video about the run here: https://youtu.be/nFfimkcVjvs
Took me a lot of tries to kill Shaper, but it's finally done. Got a Starforge for my very first drop. Died a few times, and could have used a culling strike. Still learning, & getting used to the mechanics. I know there are a lot of better builds out there, but this is my best build so far. It's been a goal of mine to kill Shaper for a while now. It's very off Meta. I just watched a dark pact build kill Shaper. Each stage was about 4 seconds. Makes my Frostbolt build a joke, but whatever. Got to level 96. Still rocking two end game challenges and I'll be at 40. Last bumped on Dec 1, 2017, 6:51:18 AM

Awesome! Well done dude.
That seems like a very well earned kill. Digging the MOM, high regen style build, especially in the wake of VP changes, I feel like this style of char I'll be running in the new league. Never managed to get that high yet, bit too late in Harbinger it feels like to push it. Oh well, bring on the atlas of worlds! Enjoyed the video, keep it up! |

Thanks guys! Thanks for the awesome support! I wasn't expecting to get any replies really, but if I could entertain two people that's already pretty sweet.
I thought maybe I would get a lot of hate because of the drop, because I know that some people haven't gotten one and have killed him way more times. I have some more video ideas that I want to do. I built a HO that I call the Zana club, it's in Standard, but I still want to showcase it off. Zana is a stripper, and Vorici is the DJ, Haku, the bouncer to the club. A detailed guide on this frostbolt build for people that are interested & just general videos that I find interesting. For instance, I have some map and atlas crafting techniques that I use to farm Nemesis. Had the Karui and Lavuanga's flask drop, as well as the Berek's rings drop. I would love to get a channel going showing off Path of Exile. I spend a lot of time playing, so I might as well do a channel and show off some of my stuff and ideas.

Nah, these days people only hate on what streamers and reddit hate on. Unless your story catches on there, no hate for you.

Nice!
Past two leagues ive use Frostbolt to make my starting builds to get going in new leagues.. And it works. Damn well at that. Doesn't really take much to get it going the only thing you really need is at least one of the jewels and you get that while lvling. But the best part is from there if you want to really invest in it you can and make it work really well. You dont have to throw massive currency at it but at the same time its not broken either.. Its one of the skills in POE thats pretty much just right. There is a fine line between Consideration and Hesitation. The former is Wisdom, the latter is Fear. Thx for video, pretty cool :)

Thank you man!
I posted the video on reddit, and it just got downvoted to zero. Internet is a weird place. I mean I've seen some statistics of Shaper runs and Starforge is really rare. Hundreds of runs and only like a dozen Starforges drop. The video took some work on my part, so the feedback is great! Just happy to share the build and my love for the game!

@Demonoz
Yeah, you're totally right about leveling. Leveling is really easy and if you get a vortex it helps in clearing mobs, if you don't have the jewels for extra projectiles. Another great item that I used for this build was the Snakepit ring. It adds an extra projectile, up to 40% more cold dmg and 10% cast speed! If you get two then you can do a decent amount of damage and have excellent clear speed. Clearing things is a breeze. I recently switched to Opal rings, because I took off my Kaom's heart when I switched to 6 link body armor. The opals allow for extra life and resists. If you have a lot of currency and exalts to burn I would recommend getting a Deafening Essence of Hatred and crafting Opal rings, until you get a nice life roll. In my opinion crafted Opals with those essences will complete the build. Boots and gloves both need high life, mana, and resistances if you need them (most likely you will especially if you're covering your ring slots with the Snakepits). Belt, can be anything, but I prefer Bated Breath for faster ES recharge, and the 20% extra shield is really nice as well. Goes well with Vaal Discipline. I also recommend crafting with Stun Avoidance essence on gloves because as a hybrid, a weakness can be getting stun locked, so stun block recovery is really nice, but stun avoidance just that extra cherry on top. Current gear on the Frostank not including the Red Nightmare Jewel: Last edited by kto9#3436 on Nov 30, 2017, 2:56:05 AM

" Of course, unless you're Ghudda, Mathil, or Zizaran or if you don't have a build that obliterates everything in 5 seconds don't expect much upvotes there I enjoyed the video, had I not known from the beginning that the run was a success I would have thought that you were done after the last 2-3 portals - you managed it well - nice reaction times and wise decisions for the most part. Not something I could have pulled personally I don't think Grats! Enjoy the sword |

" Yeah, you're absolutely right. The forum is great though because it's not so much about the sensationalism that Reddit (and everything else on the internet) seems to incentivize when it comes to content. Yeah, it was tough for sure especially near the end, but I was determined to get the kill. Thanks! I had a good deal of practice with Shaper, but I think switching to 6 link made all the difference in terms of DPS. Last edited by kto9#3436 on Nov 30, 2017, 3:26:44 AM
