Make Alpha's Howl great again.

The reduced reserve on alphas is not worth the slot anymore after the mechanic got changed, and thats why it dropped in price. It is not build enabeling anymore and has no benefit other than the cannot be frozen against certain bosses but even then people did rather use a bottle.

Alphas howl is utter crap at the moment, and needs attention in my oppinion.

No, as i said in the op, it's not about the price, it's about the quality, GGG is buffing unused unniques and they admit that because of the Meta some uniques are becoming stupid and literally unusable and that is a problem. That's why they have been buffing lots of uniques in the last 2-3 patches, if you ever did pay attention. My suggestion is to buff this one, specifically. Because atm its much better to use a deafening loathing essence with a good rare helmet instead of alpha's howl.

Also, agreed on the rework to curses and nerf to boss curse resistance.

As stated, Alpha's Howl was "build enabling" when I wanted to run around with 3 or 4 aura's. That's no longer the way it's done because GGG increased cost of running aura's, for example reduced mana gem no longer impacts mana reservation. I still have a few Alpha's Howls squirreled away and occasionally use one.

Honestly... Alphas dropped in value way before Reduced Mana was changed. Or to put it in other words. Is there any T2 unique worth more than a few chaos? I think not and the main culprit is that they increased the drop chance of those massively at one point.

I mean how much is Pledge of Hands or Consuming Dark? Carcass Jack is one of the most valuable T2 uniques and even that is pretty cheap.

And of course the item got a lot less important. Reduced Aura Reservation is a stat (like Dodge or Block) that gets better the more of it you have. And with that the nerfs to the nodes on the tree were a big hit to Alphas, as well as changes to multiple auras.

Right now the best stat on Alphas is the cannot be frozen mod, which still makes it decent, but there are just too many better options and Ascendancies like Raider, which would have used such a helmet back then are natively immune to Freeze anyway.

True, although I'd argue that Alpha Howls have dropped in value far more than the increased drop rate. Or put another way they've dropped in value much more than other uniques simply because of the increased drop rate on unique items.

As a side note, wasn't the reduced mana gem change for auras prior to the increased drop rate for uniques?

imo it is not as useful because ES had got nerfed into the ground and howl doesn't have HP. just about that simple.

otherwise it is an awesome helm

combination of power of auras going down, RM change, and freeze immunity freely available on so many things = unique that isnt used much

when alphas howl was popular, aura stacking was one of the most powerful things you could do in terms of scaling your damage and defenses
