the specified account already exists

I'm trying to install PoE on my laptop (already have it working on my other PC), this problem pops up:

Note: I did have a very old PoE version installed on it, I uninstalled it.

Possible solutions?

Too late for you, but if anyone else finds this, this can happen if the last PoE installation is still registered with windows, but the files are missing (or messed up?)

I uninstalled through windows add/remove programs, and then the installer could complete successfully.

I had to install to a new directory; installing over top of my old game finished the installer successfully, but the resulting files still couldn't patch.
