Massive difficulty spike?

You're not alone; they nerfed my old tank build to the ground with the changes. I cannot even take more than two hits at level 80 from level 73 monsters with almost 80% DR, 50% block, 40% evasion and 25% spell block with a 6% chance to dodge and top-notch unique items.

Not really the game for me any longer.

One thing you've decided to skip :D
How much HP do your "mega-tank-build" have?
Also, are you aware that those "80%DR" are actually estimated physical damage reduction?
As well as entropic 40% evasion.
Oh, and what about your resistances?
Remember, suffering is convenient.
That is why many people prefer it.
Happiness requires effort.
Yes it does get harder with avarius, gruthkul and doedre in act8. Need to trade to get the best dps possible from levelling uniques. By doing so, you can spend more nodes on hp earlier, less on passives that increase the dps.

Several thousand with a few hundred regeneration kicker and max res. The build was working fine before, because it relies on stacking as much mitigation as possible (including leech).

I literally founded a guild on said build, and now it's useless for running Zana's basic map dailies at endgame; it seems we need the most meta builds possible to get by. Given how much time and effort I had to sink into my main character in terms of trading and grinding, no thanks on that.

Maybe I'll come back when they finally reset the passive tree, but that's likely a long way off.

Dark souls is way way harder than innocence fight, I think you didn't really beat dark souls, you just read a whole bunch of guiles and pretend you figured out that game.

WELL WAS YOUR BUILD TANKIER THEN THIS?!?!!

9,5k ES, 60k-100k Armor. MaxBlock SR LL Aegis Guardian

Sorry, I couldn't resist cuz I love tanky builds, and being immune to damage. Ok, I'll leave now xd.

I can't believe the CRAZY difficulty spike I just hit. I was completely demolishing mobs from Acts 1-5. Had a really good system going with my two handed mace wielding Templar. All of a sudden, I hit Act 6 and regular mobs are two shotting me (the Tukohama Warrior/Scout/etc mobs in the areas north of Lioneye's Watch.) I'm not quite sure what to do, I thought it was low health so I used respec points to get some more but it seemed that was pointless. I'm actually at a loss on what to do now, I was loving this game but I have no other good equipment, it's kind of ridiculous how well I was doing in Act 5 and now I can't gain levels because mobs are two shotting and taking away my XP. The spike was way too sudden and came out of nowhere.

Press the 'C' key in-game and look at your defense tab. What's ur resistance?
(⌐■_■)
Yes, there are a great increasing of difficulty on act 5 and 6 when your resistances down but that is all! Try to play non evasion build because this type of builds strongly recomended to avoid ALL incoming damage by kiting (i not understand for what need evasion in this case). I advice you this amount of defensive stats on this acts (for HC only, because on SC you may have NO defensive stats): 1act - 250-300hp for Merveil; 2act - 50% lightning res and 500+ hp for vaal oversoul; 3act - 700-800armour, 800+hp, all elemental resistance max for Dominus; 4act - 1500hp, 1500armour, all resistance max (for all acts) for Malah; 5act - for Avarius about 2000hp and 2000+arm with good reaction for avoid this fckn star spammer, for kitava use fortify and if you can endurance charges, kite his hand slam and area with damage over time; in act6 all will be more easly and all you need to compenasate penalty to all resistance; act7 is hard and you need up your armour to 3.5-4k (its easy) and up hp to 2.8-3k (for Grukthul and Arakaali); act8 is spike in difficulty and you must be carefuly on Yugul, Doedre and big sisters in the end, but on this bracket of lvles (55-60) you get opportunity to buy good gear from another players and with good gear you haven't any problems, so spending 5-8c for buying gear will be good for your survivability, i recommend up your hp to 3.5k and greatly up armour to 6-7k (easy too); act 9 will be easly (imho) than act 8 and if you have stats which i write for act 8 its not be a problem; act 10 is hell.. i hate this stupid heretic wardens that have 75% block chance and very high phys damage but 10k armour and 4.5k hp against all mobs is enough, for kitava need 5k+ hp with fortify, end charges and purity of fire aura that saves against his fire breath, 10k aromour+ enough against hand dragging and with this stats and good hp recovery from flasks/leech/regen you can easly facetank him.

But you must not forget that good defence without good dps is boring and not save. So you must try to get 5l gear on 40+ lvl for maximize your dps and grab only sweet offence nodes for your build from skill tree. Try to grab all jewel sockets that require 3 or less talent investment. Use the best weapon and gem setup and you get character that not pay for any boss and easly clear maps!
Minimal RECOMENDED! DPS chart for comfort leveling (it may be various for different builds but with little difference, this amounts is estimated):
1act - 100dps
2act - 200dps
3act - 500dps
4act - 1000dps
5act - 2000dps
6act - 3000dps
7act - 4000dps
8act - 6500dps
9act - 10000dps
10act - same for starting maps 15000+dps
This chart not for speed running but for easy surviving on HC league. This dps must be real, not on your tooltip!

Resistances are very low - 3, 25, 11, and -30. That's the problem. I was playing the game and not really paying attention to resistances because none of the enemies from act 1-5 really needed it. I had great defenses and pretty much breezed through those acts. Now I don't have anything to give me more resistances and I'm stuck. BTW, playing on Xbox.

Sorry, are you recommending that I play a NON evasion build, or that I play an evasion build? And how would I go about changing my character? That's the biggest hurdle I see before me. I spent all my respec points (the 10 that I had) on more health. I don't really have much currency, and these mobs aren't dropping anything magnificent with good resistances that also work with my build. My issue is just that I don't know where to start in getting my elemental resistances up higher. I'm doing the damage that you're recommending with all my buffs (around 3500 with all buffs up) and have 3500 armor with all buffs, but I don't know where to get my elemental resistance gear from.
Evasion is bad defence so yes try to play NON evasion build. If you have alot of evasion rating i recomend to convert all of them to armour by using Iron Reflexes (IR) keystone in south part of skill tree. If you have bad gear try to trade with another players. Check poe.trade for this or trading service on main site. Try to get some resistances from skill tree. Use jewels with resistances. Use auras which give resistances (purity of fire etc.). Use endurance charges for capping elemental resistance if you have big troubles (1 endurance charge = 4% to all elemental resistance while active). If you have problems with currency and you cant trade because of this you must stop progressing in gamestory and farm in comfortable locations for you. Chose one location where your build sence comfortable and clear them many times. Bad rare equip may sell to vendors for alts, alts may exchanges for chaoses, chaoses = power(gear)! And get profit.
