Parasites and /remaining

Whenever monsters affected by parasite spawn in an area, the /remaining counter will never go down to 0. Happened in the Western Forest, Riverways, Southern Forest as well as any map that contains parasite-affected monsters. I have tried running over in the same area multiple times and used raging spirits to track down every monster but was unable to reduce the counter to 0.
