Poe kills computer in...(reproducable)
So to give some background the problem i'm experiencing is POE will put my entire computer to like 5-10 fps and it will only go away if i restart POE. If i logout and relog it will not fix it (entire comp desktop everything).
This first happened when I went into a Oba's cursed Trove map for the first time. Now it happens in these exact cases below (I've rolled 5 char or so and its exact same on every char after that oba's map.): 1. EVERY boss/miniboss/bandit in act1-5 (act6-10 and all maps unaffected, except maybe Oba's. Too scared to try again). 2. Act 3 multiple zones if i stand still and attack/cast more than 3 times (docks, solaris temple, dominus tower, cremetorium). And yea this makes a new character basically unplayable. I have to call a friend to kill the boss/miniboss then restart POE EVERY SINGLE TIME (yea this is basically a game restart like every 5-10 min and I cant stand it anymore). I've reinstalled POE, changed/tested all video settings, deleted cache directories and nothing works. Out of all of the years I've played POE this has never happened. Even on a shitty laptop in college this has never happened and I'm outa ideas. Plz help =O Last bumped on Oct 19, 2017, 11:06:02 PM

One more thing i noticed, when this happens i checked my task manager performance. The CPU usage bar % does not change however most of the bars turn from green to red...have no idea what that means but it turns back green when i restart POE. (and yes the usage % is exactly the same, just color change).
Also the DX11 dynamic resolution goes to absolute shit, I've tried DX9 and pretty much every video setting available and none of them fix this. Last edited by stryk3z#1043 on Oct 16, 2017, 11:15:30 PM

What you describe says that when PoE is running, the amount of time spent in the kernel goes way up, and the amount of time spend running "user" programs, such as PoE, goes way down. That'd be consistent with the symptoms you describe.
It's not clear what the root cause is immediately, but if I were you I'd start by grabbing the GPU-Z program, running it, and making sure that your graphics card was running at PCI-e 16x, and not PCI-e 1x. The later is a symptom of a poor connection on the bus, typically fixed by reseating the card. This can manifest as very slow performance for some-and-only-some games: basically, moving textures to or from the GPU is really slow, which means that if the game does it a lot, performance drops, but if the game doesn't, it's pretty reasonable. That is basically an engine property, and it's possible that PoE is the only game you play that behaves like that. (GW2 suffers the same choke-point, for reference.) |

" That sounds (a) completely unrelated, and (b) like you are either running the 32-bit version, or you just plain don't have enough memory. |

Well the wierd thing is all previous leagues and even 3.0 up until i went into that oba's map was 100% fine (same computer, no hardware changes and computer doesn't move). For whatever reason as soon as i went in that map was the first time i experienced the FPS kill. At this point i'm pretty sure its not hardware related considering it only happens on very specific times (the a1-5 bosses/minibosses and specific zones).
