Headhunter
Hi,
This might sound noob, but I'm an enraged unlucky folk.. I'm trying to get a headhunter belt, started to play in 2.4, and ever since I failed to get a single HH. Counting the chance orbs since the beginning, spent 14.231 orb of chance all together to get the belt, and still nothing. Now in Harbinger I used around 250 ancient orbs, and no luck there either. I know HH is supposed to be very rare, but after wasting all my currency/gear in the end for hope of HH I'm asking.. Is this okay? Why can't everyone who puts enough effort into HH have a try at it, it's not like needed for any build's endgame, just fun to clear with it, I find it very frustrating, that such a "just for map clearing fun" there is a chance that U waste your everything for months and months, and get out nothing from it. Guess lot of noobs were crying about it, so I'm no different, but the amount of casino in this is just ridiculous, and very demotivating.. Last bumped on Oct 7, 2017, 3:28:37 PM

From the Wiki page about chance orbs:
"Notably, unique items specific to past temporary leagues, such as Headhunter or Voll's Devotion, can be obtained with an Orb of Chance only while standing in a map to which the appropriate league's mod has been added with the Map Device" |

Okay, I might have stated that I'm noob, but I'm not this noob...
Spent every each chancing orb with Nemesis mod, properly as it should be. |

" You can if you just trade for it. You gambled and didn't get an item that's borderline unobtainable. That's not unusual. Perhaps instead of complaining about it, try to temper your expectations while gambling for such an item. Last edited by Bardharr#3094 on Oct 7, 2017, 11:08:43 AM

Well, again as written above, I stated I'm noob (let's say casual)..
HH is 72ex, there is no god I will ever make in any leagues 72ex even if I save up everything (which would lead also to that my char will suck even meanwhile). Gambling is a thing, never expected to get it in a wink, but 16k chance accumulated if we don't count the divine cards and ancient orbs is an amount you would expect getting something? I know you guys have no problem farming 72ex (or perhaps buying them...) but it doesn't mean everyone can (and by everyone I mean I'm sure 80% of the population can't farm that much in one league). So okay, never expect anything from gambling.. I guess that's right, but so if they could do something about obtaining it that would make it possible for people without RMT? Again highlighted, the most expensive, build required uniques/rares are usually up to 15ex top, meanwhile HH what is not even for endgame bossing etc. is 72 ex, like what's the logic? |

Instead of gambling you should buy it.

" Have you ever taken an economics class? poe.trade says chance:ex is 600:1 right now in Harbinger, and 16,000/600 = 26.67 exalts. If people could "expect" to obtain an item for 26.67 exalts, why on earth would they buy it for 72 exalts? Then, enterprising businesspeople step in and say, "if I sell for 71 exalts, I can undercut the market" and then another one says "if I sell for 70 exalts, I can undercut that other guy" and so on. It makes no logical sense that you should "expect" a 72 exalt item for 26.67 exalts. You should probably spend 72*600 = 43,200 chances before "expecting" a headhunter from chancing. " What would you want them to do? GGG has been fans of free markets (for in-game currency) in POE pretty much ever since the beginning and have never budged. And why would you assume RMT? There's a reason that many complainers in Feedback & Discussion talk about how POE is Path of Trade. You buy low, sell high - simple arbitration like I described above (except instead of a 26.67 to 72 ex spread, you can usually expect something like a 4.5 ex to 5 ex spread, and then work your way up to things like 14 ex to 15 ex spreads. Make 1 ex a trade, and you'll have 72 ex in no time). " Economic logic, scarcity and "fun" value. It provides a mechanic that you almost can't get anywhere else in the game (Inspired Learning comes close, but you only gain 1-2 mods instead of all mods). ----------------- This is yet another reason why POE seems like it isn't aimed at pleasing everyone in the world. A game designed to be played for long periods of time by people who are expected to put in a ton of effort, and you frequently find people who want the most valuable item in the entire game while being a self-described "noob." It's about as "casino" as buying a handful of tickets to the Mega Millions lottery and complaining that you don't have a yacht yet. Need game info? Check out the Wiki at: https://www.poewiki.net/

" Yeah 250 ancient orb is like 5000 chaos (could be more if you have a large stock of it, probably 22-25 c a piece, would sell like candy if you had hundreds of it), which is a little bit more, than 50 exalts, save it up next time. Last edited by krenderke#3861 on Oct 7, 2017, 3:31:18 PM
