Critical Strike Chance for Spells
I see there are pasives and mods on items that give this modifier.
In the pasive tree there are: Increase Critical Strike Chances for Spells Increase Critical Strike Chance Does the Critical Strike Chance here work for attacks and spells? So If I have 20% Increase Critical Strike Chance for Spells and 45% Increase Critical Strike Chance, Will I have 65% Critical Strike Chance for my spells? On Items: x% Increased Critical Strike Chance for Spells x% Global Critical Strike Chance Same question, If I have an item with 79% Increase Critical Strike Chance for Spells and 20% Global Critical Strike Chance, (considering I don't have any other critical chance source) Will I have 99% Global Critical Strike Chance to apply to the critical on my spell gems? Yes to all the above. Just be careful with 'increased critical strike chance' (with no other words) on weapons. Unlike the exact same wording on the tree, that mod is local to the weapon and does nothing for spells.
Edit: you might know this but in case you don't (as your question is worded ambiguously), this is all % increased crit chance. It increases your base crit chance. If your spell has 5% base crit chance and you pick up 100% increased crit chance, your final crit chance is 10%. Have you done something awesome with Sire of Shards? PM me and tell me all about it! First thanks for answer.
Apart from your word, Is there any way to verify this? If not, GGG should consider include "Global Critical Strike Chance" and "Global Critical Strike Multipler" or "Critical Strike Chance for Spells" in the character stats. Because melees can check their critical chance very easy, and a witch like me need to do the maths. PD: I already know, but thanks for the clarification on Critical Strike Chance inside weapons. Now that I think more on this, I have another question related to this.
On weapons there is the Physical Damage and in some weapons (not all) there is an Elemntal Damage (Fire, Cold, Lightning) Does this Elemental stat on weapons affect in any way in the formula to calculate my damage with spell gems? I know there are: Adds X to X added Fire/Cold/Lightning Damage Adds X to X added Fire/Cold/Lightning Damage to Spells So aparently it should not, but who knows? The way I see this is like on first place this game was meant only to melee characters, and at some point of the development they decide to include the witch and the spells to the game. They have forgoten to add all spells stats to the character stats window. Is this something GGG is considering to add on the future? Seeing this post is something they, at least, should consider. You might be confusing a wand with other weapons. A wand can do physical damage. That number at the top is base physical damage. That number is NOT used in any way to calculate spell damage. Same with the elemental damage shown at the top.
Damage from spells is based on the skill gem you are using, plus it's support gems, increases from the tree, etc. You don't even need a weapon equipped. For example: https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Driftwood_Wand At the top you see physical damage, critical strike chance, attacks per second, and weapon range. NONE of those affect spells. Those numbers are only for using the wand as an actual weapon. Just below that you see (8-12)% increased Spell Damage. THAT affects spell damage. In your character screen, you do see the crit chance for spell damage, just like for melee damage. You need to click on the actual skill to see it. The default (sword icon) is the base weapon damage with no skill. Edit: If you remember at the very beginning of the game when you picked up the wand and killed the dying exile. You equipped the wand and used it to kill him. That was the physical damage listed at the top of the wand. It will also show in the character screen by selecting the sword icon. Then you got a fireball gem as a drop. When you socket that gem, and use fireball, it is now spell damage. If you use the default left mouse button (sword icon) it is still physical damage from the wand. By default, fireball will be assigned to the right mouse button. So the left button will be wand physical damage, based on "Physical Damage: 4–8". The right button will be spell damage, based on the gem, and "(8-12)% increased Spell Damage". Edit again: Now look at this wand. https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Ashcaller At the top you will see: "Elemental Damage: (10 to 14)–(18 to 22)" That is wand damage and does not affect spells. Below you will see: "Adds (10-14) to (18-22) Fire Damage" "Adds (4-6) to (7-9) Fire Damage to Spells" The first line is local on the wand. It's the same thing shown at top. The second line says "to spells". That is added to spell damage. Last edited by harddaysnight#7837 on Oct 1, 2017, 2:34:30 PM

" If you select your Spell of choice on the character sheet, it lists the Skill's Crit Chance just fine. All you gotta do is click the icon :p Last edited by Vipermagi#0984 on Oct 1, 2017, 2:20:11 PM

Thsnks for the answers, the "Click" on the skill in the character sheet do the magic. :)
I just test it (with the skill "clicked" :p) and spending points in the pasives Critical Strike Chance will afect the spell critical, so: Critical Strike Chance for spells---> affect only spells Critical Strike Chance--------------> afect both spells and attacks |
