Overpowered monster abilities/ Combat log request

Please, give us a combat log like the one we have in WoW. It would really help in many many situations, we'd have a chance to report outrageous damages with proof, we could test things much more easier, etc.

Gotta say this is a great game. In every game I prefer a toon that's very tanky, even if it means I have like 0 dps. Here I have a 2h juggernaut with sunder with 15k dps so far, 6k health, capped elemental resistances, 90% phys dmg reduction, 700 life regen 900 leech rate. This basically means that I take the least damage possible while restoring 1500+ life per second without flasks. I love this build.

However I have to notice again and again how unbalanced the enemies' abilities are. I've cleared several t12-13 maps with this build, it was always slow but easy, never getting dropped below 95% health thanks to capped defenses and big leech-regen. Then I went to do a t5 map because I needed it for atlas and got killed like 6 times, losing all my xp and my will to play. This boss in a Tier 5 map had 10 times more dps than the tier 12-13 bosses I've done countless times.

One firestorm does so much damage that I can't stand in one place, meaning that with 75% fire resistance I'm taking so much damage that I can't heal it out with my 1500+ leech-regen + flasks, I have panicked flasks but I die against that boss so fast that I can't even use it below 35% because my hp goes down in 1 second.
When it manages to stack 2 firestorms in one place and I happen to run through it's border i die instantly no matter my regen and 6k health.

The hit and run strategy is a real pain with 15k dps since the boss is spamming firestorm, it rarely ever stops for a microsecond, meaning I can't stop for more than a second at a time. It could be done, but I wonder if this is what GGG intended? To make tanky low dps builds useless against many bosses?

The exact same thing happens with many other abilities, you can clear a whole map with bosses and everything without ever dropping below 95% health then die in a second against the last pack of magic pack of monsters because they had some noname super op ability.

If this isn't intended then in reporting these unbalanced abilities we'd really need something that'd help us provide proof. We need a combat log.

I've always longed for a combat log, but really just a simple on-death chat log statement like:
"*monster* hits you with *ability*. You died." would be enough to satisfy me. Staring at your character laying supine and wondering what the hell just happened is inconsolably frustrating.

Every time I've had a instant mysterious death, though, it was reflect. If you don't have any mitigation against reflect, stay paranoid when engaging rares.
Firestorm is a elemental spell that cannot be mitigated by armor... I doubt you'll need ~90% fire resistance and/or spell block to facetank it.

I could say even Kitava cannot withhold maximum stacks of full-duration firestorms which is the best killing strategy I've found since.
Two-handed - Mop
Dual Wield - Slippers
One-handed & Shield (close combat) - Brush & Basin
One-handed & Shield (ranged) - Hair Dryer & Mirror
Main-hand & Off-hand (evil witch) - Sponge & Soap
My point is that 99% of elemental boss abilities are negligible if you have high health and good regen but fire storm which is not even a single target spell deals crazy amounts of damage compared to other boss abilities that are single-target. Same goes for the black aoe tar thingy in excavation bossfight. It deals more damage than what my now 2k leech-regen +flasks could negate which is incredibly broken when you compare it with other boss fights.
Even a partial log would be great- ie: a Death log only.
Would love to have a Death log to see what actually killed you.
Name of Mob, name of ability and how much damage.

Maybe press "n" or something.

You were killed by:
Sea Witch , Barf of Chill - 2000 cold damage
Goatman, Leap - 2500 damage (critical)

I'm not sure, but I don't think they programmed it so that a damage packet knows what created it.
I understand your complaint on the damage you take being very demotivating/frustrating when you invest so heavily into defense, but you do have to remember that it would be trivializing to be able to stomp all content without any issue.

But I do have to point out the fact that firestorm can and often is a quick shotgunning like effect and the individual hits added with any critical hits or ignite can counter act your regen very easily. Elemental resistance is different than armor too, where armor gets worse in reduction against bigger and bigger single hits, elemental benefits from quick hitting mechanics in some instances like incinerate.

You have to remember the firestorms stack on top of each other and the animations overlap. So at times you may actually be getting hit by 2-3 in a single hit all at once but show the appearance of a single flame.

This is a mechanic that keeps builds that abuse high defensive stands and standing still to move around. Mechanics like "don't stand in the fire" in WoW are an example of similar things a player must change in their behavior to fight.

Just some food for thought. I'm not necessarily 100% against your notion of her being too strong, but I do feel that you should try looking at it from a different perspective.

EDIT: As for a combat log I would agree fully, especially for hardcore where sometimes deaths can be a complete surprise and or a total mystery.

ROFL. Megaera still OP, hahahaha. As per usual. You should have met her before she was "nerfed" into lower tier. She killed 30k+ Life Zombies in like 1 or 2 seconds. Shit was fun. Not even max. Block could do this safely.

Yeah I remember. Good times for a beginning HC player.

Definitely would support something like this. I'd love to see what killed me last time.

The reason we don't have combat log is obvious. Ggg knows this one shot kill issue. If they wanted to change it they would did it loooong time ago. Same a trivial thing as combat log. This is a purpose we don't have it.
