Herald of Ice + Hypothermia / Ice Bit

Hi,

What happens with Hypothermia and Ice Bite when used with Herald of Ice vs. with a main attack? The supports show up in the tooltip for the Herald.

Is there any point to using those supports on a main attack as well as with the Herald or is it enough to just use them with the Herald and stack other supports onto the main attack?

The only problem with icebite on HoI is that the explosion from Herald of Ice has to deal the killing blow for it to actually trigger the effect of gaining frenzy charges.

I tested it on one of my builds and the triggers are not reliable. Herald of Ice > Curse on Hit setups are still fairly reliable however.

If you are dependent on the "on kill" effects, such as gaining frenzy charges, you are better off putting the link to your main skill.

The cold damage added by HOI does not gain any of these bonuses, only the shattering explosion.

So, yes I know this is a bit of an older post, but I am making a Wormblaster build right now, so all I scale is the herald of ice. and yes, the explosion HITS enemies, and yes, then the explosion deals MORE damage. the Icebite support doesn't do anything on HoI, I use it on my cyclone to shatter the worms and thereby get my frenzy charges, so I get 16% more damage from the frenzy out of that, and the frenzy charges (in my case 4) do give me 16% more damage.

well is not that bad...

i use 6l Hoi with

Innvervate/Ice bite ( from tempest ) + enlighten + Culling + Onslaugt




and i get all the buffs while mapping




also why hyperthermia? if you want more dmg for the killing blow... Culling is much better
