portal button on utlitity bar + portal hotkey

I really hate having to press i and then ensure my portal scroll is in a memorized place so that I can quickly open one before dying.

I think there should be a portal button on the bar (the bar that has flasks, hp, skills, xp etc.). as well as a hotkey.

it can simply show how many scrolls you own and if it's 0 it's in gray.

The problem with that is the it requires a gem slot, and it has a cast speed which is not great for low cast speed chars.

In diablo 2, you had your TP linked as a skill and you could switch skills instantly to open a tp and get out.

I guess the resolution here is to use a logout macro in POE, but anyway I agree I don't see a reason we can't just have the TP hotkey'd to something.

Because, like most everything else in this game, choices matter. You want the convenience of having TP on a hotkey? You sacrifice a gem slot for that. Logout macro will get you out of a sticky situation, sure, but it doesn't create a portal allowing you to return to the same place, without losing time covering the distance to get back where you logged from.

I agree totally. I think it can easily be implemented.

using up a gem slot, isn't ideal but yeah it's easier than pressing i and right clicking and making sure you hit the right item.

low cast speed is an issue, I've used the portal skill gem before and it has sometimes not got me out of sticky situations.

I don't understand why it's a good thing to use up a gem slot? the choice comment doesn't make sense to me. i think they can easily create a hotkey for this, and even a box on the utility bar showing how many portals there are.
I got mouse macro short cut that opens inventory, clicks on position and closes inventory, ezy pyzy

With one click/input on your end? Hmm... That... sounds against TOS...

This is actually something you can get banned for.

Once again though, the portal gem doesn't work for everyone. It literally takes like 3 seconds to cast the portal versus ~1 second for someone who is quick.

I remapped my inventory button to mouse 5 (side mouse button) in POE, so I can quickly open inventory and click, because I use a gladiator and I have 0 cast speed. I don't have the links or intelligence available to use a 21/20 faster casting + 20% portal gem on my build, so I don't. I do the next best thing to TP out if I'm getting chased by a mob I can't handle, which is open inventory and click on a portal.

Kind of just scratching my head on why you can't map it to a hotkey though, yea it makes the portal gem obsolete, but who cares? Seriously... Does anyone actually use the portal gem late game? Someone please step forward if you use it in your end-game build.

I use it on new characters so I don't have to waste TPs, but after that the gem is dead.

No, it's not needed, but it would be awesome if they did this and I don't think people would complain about it and say it's making the game too easy. It's just improving the QOL for people that play this game. Is that so bad?
