Skill Tree/Leveling
Spoiler
30 Points: poeurl.com/bwN1
At this point, you want to be leveling with Firestorm and a Lifesprig if you have that available. Grab Clarity, Fire Dash and Herald of Ice. You’re going to be picking up DEX as you level to run Faster Attacks and use decent gear you find as you level. You should run Siosa’s library to grab Leap Slam and Faster attacks for mobility and a Purity of Fire for your back pocket.

55 Points: poeurl.com/bwN8
You can transition into SR – CwC – Frost Bolt – Elemental Focus at this point or a little earlier based on how you feel. You can slot both up Frozen Trails in the slots North and West of witch if you have them available. If you don’t want to use Frost Bolt, run Controlled Destruction and Improved Burning.

65 Points: poeurl.com/bwOb
Congratulations! You can pick up your Rise and start running with RF. Avoid using gear with large amounts of ES on it from now on. Pick up Elemental Equilibrium when you don’t have ANY flat elemental damage on your gear.

80 Points: poeurl.com/bwOf
At this point pick up a Dex amulet if you can’t afford a bad Astramentis. Refund the large STR node and all DEX nodes off the tree. Take mana or health nodes as necessary. When you get your 5-link, add Controlled Destruction to your loadout. If you are uncomfortable with your life/mana balance, take the life/mana nodes off the Templar starting point.

95 Points: poeurl.com/bwOi
You’re done pathing around at this point. Grab up all the HP and mana nodes available. Do not take the resistances nodes unless you need/want them for 109% purposes or you have a Green Dream. From here on out, you grab health and mana and aren’t really going to get anything special off the tree anymore.

Notables
Elemental Overload: This is effectively a 40% more multiplier for your RF, SR, and Frost Bolt. The only spell you have that loses the ability to crit in the first place (that you care about) is Frost Bolt.
Mind Over Matter: You get a lot of survivability out of this node. You can decide to not take it if you really want to, but you don’t really have anything else to do with your mana.
Elemental Equilibrium: Through the use of Orb of Storms and Frost Bolts, you should be having your enemies flicker between weaknesses.

Ascension
Spoiler
Liege of the Primordial -> Paragon of Calamity -> Pendulum of Destruction -> Mastermind of Discord

You focus on your defensive/utility abilities first. You do more than enough damage on your own.

Bandits
You can do what you want. They’re all pretty fine. Oak gives life regen and phys mitigation making you tankier. Kraityn gives mobility and dodge which are decent. Alira gives huge flat mana and a decent chunk of res which lets you run more uniques when you have Diablo III syndrome. The 2 extra points are just going into mana or life and are nice, but not too sexy. I go Oak because eventually I’m transitioning into a Doon build.

Pantheon
Spoiler
Major
Arakaali: Increases your mana and health regen while also helping you shrug off shocks and poisons. This is your tier 1 major.
Brine King: Prevents you from being CC’d. Tier 15s and 16s are where you wanna pull this guy out when you wanna watch episodes of Once Upon a Time while farming and don’t wanna get bamboozled by a pack that perma stuns you.

Minor
Yugul: My minor of choice. It reduces reflection and lets you run reflect maps or not gib yourself when a triple reflect pack spawns off a Harbinger.
Abberath: This is a lot of people’s RF minor of choice but if you’re running Arakaali you should be more than fine.
Ryslatha: If you wanna run lab or run two health potions, this is a good minor for some extra safety.

Skill Links
Main Skill (BBBBBR): Scorching Ray – Cast While Channeling – Frostbolt – Elemental Focus – (Controlled Destruction – Iron Will/Empower 3)
Do you miss the old days of double dipping? CwC allows you to double dip your more multipliers across Frostbolt and Scorching Ray. Iron Will is the best source of double dipping link other than a level 3 Empower, although once you get up to really high STR Iron Will once again deals a lot more damage. Plug your numbers into PoB in order to figure out your damage. Frostbolts can off screen trash mobs and SR + RF cleans up big guys. You have to run a hybrid chest because you don’t want to have a ton of ES. You can run Blood Magic on no mana regen maps.

Righteous 7th Link (RRBB): Righteous Fire – Increased Burning – Elemental Focus – Increased Area of Effect/Concentrated Effect
This is your 7th link. It also deals decent damage at medium range with Inc AoE. At tier 15+ you might want to run Conc. in order to create an insta-kill zone at short range. Slap into a pure armor helm/gloves. Later on you’re going to want to craft damage boosting gloves/helm.

Orb of Curse (BBBB): Orb of Storms – Curse on Hit – Elemental Weakness – Arcane Surge
This is your Surge/EE proccing and cursing spell. When you hit a big beefy target, drop down and orb and let them melt. Also, you can drop down randomly when you’re low of mana to regen. Keep Arcane Surge down (~level 5) in order to trigger it off one cast. You’re probably going to have to slap this in a hybrid base.

Movement (RRG): Leap Slam – Faster Attacks – Fortify/Blood Magic
This is your movement skill. Fortify makes you tanky but Blood Magic will keep you from getting trapped. Slot into your shield.

Cast of Damage Taken (RRRR): CWDT – Immortal Call – Fire Golem – Stone Golem
This is your standard layout. Summons your golems and makes you temporarily immune to physical damage. You can trade out Stone Golem for Ice Golem to improve damage.

Auras (R, B): Purity of Fire, Clarity.
You don’t need to link these to anything. In a no regen map switch out Purity of Fire for Determination if you don’t want to leave your mana open. You eventually want to have your Purity of Fire at level 23 for a 5% increased max fire res. You can do this with a 21 PoF and a +2 unset ring, a 20 PoF and a +3 unset ring, or a similar Empower.

You’ll end up with a few links left over. I slotted PoF into a ring and ran Clarity – Empower – Enduring Cry. You can use a Decoy Totem, Devouring Totem, and Rallying Cry.

Weapon
Spoiler
A Decent Scepter: You can benefit from spell damage, burning damage, fire damage, and elemental damage. Just grab up a decent scepter that doesn’t have flat elemental damage as it’ll turn off your Elemental Equilibrium.
Doryani’s Catalyst: You’re using it for the huge elemental percent and you even benefit from the elemental leech a bit. They’re usually relatively cheap as even a low end one works well enough.
Doon Cuebiyari: If you can stack over 800 STR, this beats a perfect Catalyst in raw damage. If you slap your Orb of Storms in here it actually deals a decent chunk of damage.

Required Uniques
Spoiler
Rise of the Phoenix (Shield): Mandatory for running RF. Until you get RF online or you want to turn off RF and be tankier, you can run another shield.
1-2 Frozen Trail (Jewel): This is basically a free GMP for your Frostbolt and why we run it in our build. You effectively get a 5 link and a 4 link working at the same time. You can run only 1 if you want.

Recommended Uniques
Spoiler
Utility
The Pariah (Ring): +2 to gem level and 100 flat HP is decent for the 1 alch price tag. This helps bump up your Purity of Fire to +4% early on and you can use a 21 Purity of Fire to get +5%. A really good unset ring can replace this.
Belt of the Deceiver (Belt): It’s universal more damage at close range and gives a decent chunk of Life, STR, and RES. The critical damage reduction helps too.
Voll’s Vision (Helmet): HP regen and health bonus make this pretty decent considering it’s usually dirt cheap. The chaos res helps as well. A good Armor or Armor/ES helmet is probably better, but it’s decent starter gear.
Geofri’s Crest (Helmet): Decent for grabbing Res and boosting Purity of Fire up to a necessary amount.

Chest Gear
Carcass Jack (Chest): This helps your RF a bit and you need a hybrid blue base for your set up.
Ambu’s Charge (Chest): Life regen and dirt cheap make this a decent option.

Big Ticket Items
Astramentis (Amulet): This gives a ton of raw stats which increase your survivability and attribute requirements. Once you get your 6 link online, the large amount of STR will really increase your damage.
Green Dream (Jewel): This is a reach luxury item. It gives you access to Frenzy charges without having to run Blood Rage. Totally unnecessary, but slotting it West of the Marauder start gives you a 33% chance to generate a Frenzy charge on kill. End-end game you can upgrade to Green Nightmare for a ton of dodge.
Alberon’s Warpath (Boots): Once you have a lot of STR, these boots give a LOT of STR. Usefull when transitioning to Doon.

Gearing
Spoiler
I’m ranking your gear from 1-3 based on what you want. This is across equipment, jewelery, and jewels.

(1) Life / STR / Mana / Mana Regen
These are your bread and butter stats. Life makes you tanky, STR gives you HP and damage once you 6-link, and Mana benefits your survivability through Mind Over Matter.

(2) Cold Resistance / Lightning Resistance / % increased (Elemental) damage / Move Speed / DEX
These are your other important stats that you want on your gear. Make sure you have 75% across the board before mapping. 109% resistance is the hard cap. Elemental damage and general damage apply to all your damage types. DEX can help you fulfill gearing requirements for your Faster Attacks (and Carcass Jack if you have one).

(3) Chaos Res / % increased Fire damage / % increased Spell damage / Cast Speed / Attack Speed / Block Chance
Chaos resistance is nice. Fire damage boosts RF and SR while Spell boosts SR and Frostbolt. Cast speed helps you turn faster. Attack speed improves Leap Slam movement speed.

(AVOID) Flat Elemental Damage on Spells
You want Frost Bolt to deal pure cold damage and Lightning Orb to deal pure lightning damage otherwise your EE gets wonky.

Flasks
Spoiler
(Healing) Saturated Eternal Life Flask of X: Between your natural regen and this you should be in tip top shape as if you had an instant flask. For no regen maps switch this for a hybrid flask.
Ruby Flask of X: Boost up your regen across life and mana. With the right mods, you can even get up to 100% and sneak in some ES regen. Put on bleed or freeze protection. You can also run a Experimenter’s Quartz Flask of X instead to give you some dodge.
Rumi’s Concoction/Granite Flask: General armor helps you stay alive when you misstep and a bunch of guys start wailing on you.
Experimenter’s Sulphur Flask of X: You take what more multipliers you can. Also, take freeze or bleed protection based on what you took for ruby.
(Utility) Experimenter’s Quicksilver Flask of Adrenaline / Experimenter’s Amethyst Flask of Warding / Atziri’s Promise: Pick your poison: one is for clear speed; one helps with curses or surprise poison; the other is extra damage and leech.

Mapping
Reflect: Just slow down and pop in Yugul and you should be fine.
Vulnerability: Constantly drop down an Orb of Storms or switch out your health flask for a hybrid flask.
No Regen/Blood Magic: Turn off RF and slap on a decent spell damage/elemental shield.
