I Need Some Help Gearing for Act 6

So I made it to Act 6, and I went through pretty much all of Acts 4 and 5 without seeing a single real upgrade, other than finding higher tier white or blue scepters at vendors to power my RF totems. Now, with the Act 6 resistance nerf and general difficulty spike, my once-adequate gear is now essentially useless. The game has just been unreasonably stingy with drops for two whole acts.

So, can anyone give me a couple pointers on what locations or bosses to grind for decent gear for Act 6? Other than Act 6 itself if possible, because at this point trash mobs are getting close to one-shotting me.

I found the same... I ran the mud flats about 10 times. Maybe more. Neversink's filter doesn't show white jewelry at that level, because it assumes you don't want to waste crafting orbs while leveling. I did. So I turned off my filter while I ran this area.

Just max out (75%) your resistances.
I know I need to max my resistances. I know exactly what kind of gear I need. The problem is I haven't been getting drops. My question was more toward what areas or bosses give the best return for time spent.

I'll probably do some Mud Flats runs too then. My jewellery is actually fine, it's all my armor pieces that suck. Can't get the right links to run my build, or even just enough slots to run my current setup. I haven't seen a piece of gear with both resistance and even just the same kinds of slots I have now.
You should be fine with a 4L at this point... I'm on a sucky 5L in maps, though I probably would do better with a good 4L. Don't get married to a link set up yet.
Believe me, I've definitely resigned myself to not having my optimal setups
But at this point I'm having difficulty just being able to use my build at all, outside just my main skill. I made a little bit of progress today and upgraded a couple items to a small but appreciated degree. But then the game ate literally 87 chromes when I tried to correct the colors on my only extra 4L, and that was just to get it back the way it was so I could continue using my current setup.

It's laughable, really. I hate to sound like one of those dudes who just complains about shit, but there's a point at which you feels like the game is trolling you.

At least my damage is still fantastic, even with suboptimal gem setups. Still having a blast.
And poe.trade is not an option?
you beat Act 5 Kitava with uncapped resistances. that's quite a feat.

for gear upgrades as self found try these: https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Vendor_recipe_system#Equipment

if RNG is trolling you, bypass RNG.

Are you level 61 at act 6 ? That's the only visible character on your account at the moment.

Several things: if you're absolutely new to POE, I strongly suggest not playing solo self found. Go to poe.trade and buy decent gear with HP and resists. At this point most 4link gears with 2res and life is 1chaos per piece.

Also, your account lists your character as being on standard league. I would strongly suggest to play in harbinger league, as you will have a much easier time buying said items.

Lastly, you should pick an ascendancy at this point. Your lvl 61 character is still a shadow and no ascendancy. Ascendancy will provide you a huge power spike.

Hope you find any of these tips useful.
Reality is an illusion, Exile.
I have no idea why it's listing my old standard league shadow as my only character. I am indeed playing on Harbinger, and I've gone through the lab and ascended and all that.

I'm not strictly SSF, but I don't really have much currency, and I'd feel kinda terrible for spending any of my precious few resources on levelling gear.

For what it's worth, I had capped resists when I fought Act 5 Kitava. And I was playing with friends, so it wasn't particularly difficult. In fact I think I was the only one of us who didn't die at all during the fight. Still mainly playing in party with them, but I am literally melting to certain of the new enemies now. Maybe that's just the way it's supposed to be with all the tree spirit duders and their scorching ray totems?

Clearing Mud Flats a few times has garnered me some small improvements. My resists are close to capped now on both my guys (with a little help from Purities), although my physical mitigation is still kinda bad. I can solo Tukohama without much worry, which is as far as my buddies and I have progressed together for the time.

Anyway, we've kinda drifted off topic. Originally I was just wondering if there were any specific areas or bosses in Acts 4/5/early 6 that were worth grinding more than others. I'm not up on drop tables and loot chances and all that. Seems like Mud Flats is the best answer I'm going to get, and that's cool. Thanks for all the various tips.
