Puncture: Question for mark_ggg

I'm running a Damage over Time build with my ranger at the moment. Combination of both poison arrow then the puncture/fork combo. Works pretty well for both mobs and bosses. But I've only reached act 3 cruel so it may well fall apart yet :D
Has any added cold damage to puncture? Is the initial impact damage increased much? |

I love puncture plus chance to.flee ... Im thinkimg about throwin that on a totem with lmp ... What about added chaos damage ? Would that effect both parts hit and dot ? Im at work on phone but ima try this out tonight

None of the questions in the OP actually seem to be for me. Sadface.
I make skills, I don't balance them. If you want to know how puncture works, that's a question for me. If you want to know the intent behind puncture's current balance level, that's a question for Qarl. If you want to know whether it's usable, or how to get good use out of it, that's a question for the community, and you appear to already have answers on that front. There's nothing in the OP I can answer, other than to point out that puncture can't actually be AoE (it can be multi-target, but that's not technically the same thing). I deliberately don't comment on what the "intent" for skills is, for a couple of reasons:
(1) If players can't work it out for themselves, then we have something wrong. I feel Puncture is pretty straight forward. Sometimes we do like to have "expert skills" where they appear weak, but are strong if correctly built. I don't consider Puncture one of these skills. (2) Sometimes we make a skill for one purpose, and it is used in some other way. Usually this is awesome, and the players have a much better idea of the intent than we did. If Puncture is underpowered relative to other skills, then yes it is likely to be changed. If puncture isn't working for you, you have two choices, use something else, or change your character until it does work for you. I can make no promises about either one of these making your character better, that is for you to work out. | |

Everytime i read what the Devs have to say about gameplay i get the urge to log on and play.
I really do appreciate when they take the time to answer questions or at least give their perspective on different game mechanics |
