Death's Oath not scaling with Swift Affliction and Efficacy Support

Death's Oath not scaling with Swift Affliction and Efficacy Support

This might be because it is not supposed to, but i thought it was strange that Damage over time nodes on the skill tree worked but not thoes support gems?

Generosity does not work either.
Less duration has a more damage modifier. Does not work either.

Thank you for any light you can shed on this.

Generosity, Less duration and Swift Affliction all have specific reasons why they cannot support this skill, and explain their respective restrictions on the gems.

Efficacy is currently bugged with regards to any skill that deals only over-time damage, but doesn't apply spell damage modifiers to that damage (like Essence Drain does, for example), and will be fixed in an upcoming patch.
That means Efficacy will be able to support Righteous Fire after all?

The Gem description implies it should work on any skill that deals damage or has a duration, but currently it only works on skills that hit or have a duration. I was under the impression that this was more just a wording error, but interesting to see that Righteous Fire actually is getting another support gem after all (although I suspect people will still use it in essence-crafted gloves or helmet without Efficacy Support anyway).

It almost sounds like it's an adjacent comment, to be honest, but it'd be interesting.

It'd be a stepping stone to a Essence Gloves/Hat, at any rate, if it ends up working, which would be very useful for early league play.

Thank you for the quick response on this matter.

That's not true - it currently correctly supports any skill that only does DoT with no hits, if that skill has the modifier that applies spell damage modifiers to the skill's DoT effect (Scorching Ray, etc). It's failing to support DoT-only skills without that modifier, which is a bug.
I just feel like death's aura was a waste of time as a change. Made a skill that is in a 180 strength chest piece that can only be supported by 1 green and 3 blue gems (void manipulation, increased aoe, conc effect, and efficacy whenever that gets fixed) and even if heavily invested the damage output is mediocre at best. sure you could get a little more out of it with wither and blight doing it's only use in the game as a support gem with its threshold jewels (rip blight ever being a good damage spell choice) but even then it's not worth the investment you'd need to put in it. You might have well have not made it an aura at all because it's really not worth doing anything with in it's current state.

Well it says 'level 20' on the chest piece, so, empower? Also Iron Will perhaps?

empower, enhance, etc all come with this disclaimer "Cannot support skills that don't come from gems." also it isn't a "spell" so it gains nothing from iron will

It's a Spell alright. It deals Damage over Time however, and DoT is never Spell Damage.
(important technicalities, it can save your life ;P )
(Skills can have a special modifier to apply Spell Damage modifiers to DoT, but Death's Oath does not have this modifier)
