Its definitely possible, but tbh I don't think any of the asendencies for Shadow really help with ice shot a whole lot. Assassin is definitely worth a look however. If you decide to do assassin, I would do the power charges stuff only and ignore all the damage over time/bleed stuff. Personally, I would recommend doing ranger if you want to do ice shot, it will almost definitely be better than shadow ascendencies.

Edit: Also, if survivability is your issue with ranger, shadow isnt a whole lot better in terms of surviviablity, if anything ranger has better tools with phasing and a shit ton of dodge from raider. You can also use darkray boots to get even more dodge if you do raider ice shot.
