Orbs of Scouring

umm so im confused, i recall when a scourign was about the price of an alchemy orb. When did it start costing more than a chaos?

When people found out its cheaper to chance/scour kaoms than to buy it.

I use it a ton on maps - will edit this post in abit.

Ok so quality increases by 5% per corresponding quality increasing orb used on white, 2% per blue and 1% for rare and above and maps past a certain level (iirc 72and above) are worth exalt +

If the map dropped as rare and has really shit rolls like a combination of (mobs has GMP + Chain + deals 100% Dmg as lightning + elemental weakness on map + -23% max player resistance ) , its 101% worth it to scour it to white and chisel it 4x instead of 20x as rare. Chisels are worth about 5 = a piece of GCP right now so you actually save like 15 chisels worth by scouring it and alch-ing it again after chisels! Of course I'm exaggerating on the mods but you get what I mean:)

Similarly you might get some 67-68 maps like sewers and spider lair that are generally worth doing in blue and maze-Ed and it dropped in rare with some crazy stuff, you might as well scour it because contrary to beliefs - most people who spam selling maps end up trading away maps like ghetto,arsenal,dungeon,wharf and the likes! 67 maps like sewers you'll want to alt and find a maze rather than spending chaos upon chaos because it's base value doesn't warrant chaos-es.

Of course people are also using scourings on things like glorious plates and chancing them for koams. Another scenario that one might think of is a 6-L white imperial bow dropped (highly unlikely of course) and someone wants a 6-L lioneye glare unique and chance and scour it.

Hopefully these are some scenarios that you'll encounter while playing the game at the map-level that'll encourage scouring uses - probably why you don't see much of them until merciless because to new players it might seem lackluster at first glance.

Does Orb of Scouring remove the item level as well?
