Ruler of Highgate quest, does it matter who you pick?

Title says it all, first time I've ever seen a choice in this game. Does it matter who you pick to be ruler?

I have done both options on 2 different characters. Both gave a skill point.

I wish they would have let you hear from both characters and then choose. I ended up picking the woman on accident as she was closer so I clicked her first.
