Very unhappy with passive point transfer in standard
|
They promised we will have every quest already completed - okay, not fun, but ok. I relogged and see I have 100 passives out of 123 I had. Ok so I have to redo questline - why not, it should be over in one hour with my 92 char.
But quests are already arbitraly half-started, I have no idea what they're about and just have to fetch quest items while even my map has no waypoints - it's basically long pointless trek through all the areas without knowing what I'm supposed to do here! Most boring possible solution, in which I wake with weak char that barely can wear gear, has no idea what quests are about but still has to go to quest areas to be even able to play the maps. Yeah I had thought that it might end up being a bit odd after reading the patch notes. I've decided to play a few new characters through the game before I go back to my standard transfers so that I have a good idea of where I need to go to get the passives and other bonuses.

I can only assume they were either too lazy or it was difficult to program. Probably the former.
I have to literally do level 40 quests on a level 100 character with mirrored items. IGN: Arlianth

Wanted to see if my std characters I spent so much currency on are still worth playing (and thus if I will continue to support GGG or not) but it seems nope. Damn, such a bad way to make spoilers : (

Agree, it is extremely badly implemented.

How other should they have done it? You never got waypoints 'gifted' that haven't existed before. (like the change from mud flats to coast, like in chamber of sins, like with all added core/main line content) you always had to revisit these areas; and its obvious that this is a bigger task on an expansion like 3.0.
And its also obvious, that they dont gift you all the new sidequests - and most of the new passives come from such (like all minor gods encounters). Even if you may feel kind of 'lost' behind act 5, it should still be much less issue to handle for a highlevel, geared build compared to doing it with a new char. OTOH, even as I expect that GGG has tools to test even these circumstances, it's no surprise that the handling of existing permanent chars may show some more issues/gaps than on new chars. invited by timer @ 10.12.2011

Same for me, very unhappy with this way of doing things with passive skill points for standard characters.
Just want GGG to know that i'm NOT going to come back in PoE if this is not fixed. After each new major expansion, i use to rebuild most of my characters with the free full passive opportunity, and it was simple and nice that way. It's already hard to make a character without failing the tree in this game, so when i'm done allocating ALL the points, what i want is to play my character on maps to see if i've failed, done mistake or if my character is good that way. But now, why should we have to do low level quests to get our points back?! We earned these already with those characters ffs! What's the point of doing this? It's not even funny or interesting, and we just don't know where to start anyway! It's just too annoying this way, a big waste of time since we're playing not for the challenge or the rewards by beating low level monster, trying to look for points we're supposed to have already. And we should do this with each of our existing characters?! Really? No thanks. Hard or not to implement, we could have some explainations on this bad choice at least... |

I felt the same way when I first logged in so I logged out and went to bed. I logged in this morning and decided to get at least one of my builds fixed up. I made a list of all the quests I needed and ran through them. It really didn't seem to take that long.
Here is the list. Start in act five and run down the list. I know it is shitty we have to do it for every single build but it is what it is. List: Act 1 : The Marooned Mariner Act 1 : The Dweller of the Deep Act 1 : The Way Forward Act 2 : Deal With The Bandits (+2 from killing all bandits) Act 3 : Victario's Secrets Act 3 : Piety's Pets Act 4 : An Indomitable Spirit Act 5 : In Service to Science Act 5 : Kitava's Torments Act 6 : The Father of War Act 6 : The Puppet Mistress Act 6 : The Cloven One Act 7 : The Master of a Million Faces Act 7 : Kishara's Star Act 7 : Queen of Despair Act 8 : Reflection of Terror Act 8 : Love is Dead Act 8 : The Gemling Legion Act 9 : The Ruler of Highgate Act 9 : The Storm Blade Act 10 : An End to Hunger (+2) Act 10 : Map to Tsoatha Last edited by __SirPuFFaLoT__#4898 on Aug 5, 2017, 1:04:23 PM

Not only that, but for us who like to explore the game, you can't access certain zones with the old characters. I was checking act 5 and I can't access the cathedral rooftop, for instance, and there's *no way* for me to access that, since the quests are finished and yet its effects in blockers are not implemented. And you can't use the teleporter, it says 'quest requirements not met'. I am not sure if this will affect the pantheon system if you can't access certain gods because you can't access zones.
So, *please* either you leave the quests that give access to places undone, or you remove the blockers that would be removed with such quests. It makes *no* sense the way it's now. |
