Why no option for trading Cosmetics?

I wish there was a fucking way to Redeem or at least Gift Duplicate mtx through contests

but isnt this "abuse option" the same we have at the moment via crossleaguetrades?

i get the argument of you people, it is not fair for the competetive ones that you could buy a tiger and trade it for fireworks and get some free ex afterwards :( but this unfine stuff happens allready, are you sure that this "cosmetic-trade-thing" would give it a new quality?

How in any way is cross league trading anywhere close to rmting with mtx? Cross league trading is only okay in GGG's eyes permanent to permanent or temp to temp, no temp to perm or vice versa.

And don't try to argue the whole "back channel people are already rmting and stuff so why try to stop it, why not embrace it" argument because its completely bullshit and would ruin the game in seconds if officially endorsed by the devs. Players would flee in droves.
"It's all clearer now
And I hear her now
And I'm nearer to
The Salvation Code"

Lets be clear,

The op does not support RMT,

The op did not say "why not embrace it" in regards to RMT

He is not defending RMT.

I personally want the MTX system to stay as is, as its a badge that shows we have supported GGG in some way. If I see someone in an Eclipse setup, i know they dropped $160 on a supporter pack.

The biggest reason I would not want MTX from the shop to be tradeable is because of the potential for RMT. I know i stated the op does not support RMT, and i stand by that. But it would be an unintended side effect.

If someone would pay 10exalts for a 100 point weapon skin, what would stop a player from dropping real $$ on weapon skins and then just converting it to currency.

Being able to trade mtx in that fashion, would be straight up Pay To Win

The actual reason this isn't a thing isn't really RMT issues. Other games (see Guild Wars 2) have very successfully mixed the MTX store and the in-game economy, though to be fair ArenaNet did in fact make that a design goal while the game was being built. Mixing the MTX store with the in-game economy post-launch is a whole different kettle of fish.

I'd posit that the real reason you can't trade MTX is twofold:

1.) 'Exclusive' MTX lose that exclusive status, unless any such MTX is locked to the original account it was earned on. If you can trade supporter pack MTX, league MTX, and whatever else, then those things lose a lot of their meaning and value to those folks who otherwise value them. This would cost GGG money, but even worse it would cost them a lot of respect and built-up goodwill. That said, it'd be easy enough to rate MTXs as 'exclusive' or 'shop items', and only allow shop items to be traded, so that problem is solvable. The real issue is:

2.) Tradeable MTX options plays absolute merry havoc with Grinding Gear's Mystery Box system. The system is predicated on having to mass-buy a raging shitload of boxes in order to get what you want, or on someone who gets part of what they want with a smaller number of boxes buying the rest of the set later to finish it out. The Low Low Price(!!!) of an MTX Mystery Box can only be sustained because of the possibility of 'useless' duplicate items, forcing the player to keep gambling and eventually make up the cost of the MTXs they're getting on the cheap. The duplicate skins act as a brake on the value of the MTX boxes, ensuring that GGG gets their money's worth from the things.

If you can trade those duplicates, though? Then the pricing schema for Mystery Boxes goes completely tits-up because nobody has to spam a million boxes to get their sets anymore, and Grinding Gear loses a lucrative money source. Mystery boxes would end up being significantly more expensive, which ruins their appeal as "Ehh, I've got a few points left. Let's see if I get lucky" impulse purchases.

Theoretically, at least. The other possibility is that mystery boxes become enormously popular because people who can afford them by the boatload can profitably sell their duplicate MTXs for ingame currency (again, similarly to buying in-game gold with gems in GW2's cash shop). This sounds awesome...until you realize that it debatably becomes a soft form of P2W, because folks who can make hundreds of exalts on the Cash Shop MTX Market get a big leg up on folks who can't do that thing. That matters a lot less in GW2 where just about any build can be done on relative pocket change (outside Ascended stuff but even then), but here in PoE where certain builds cost a bloody friggin' fortune to outfit and are known to be Rich Man Only things...yeah. I can see where being able to indirectly real-money your way into those builds would cause a lot of friction. Even if I'd love to be able to throw some money at having a Golemancer build sometimes just because I GODDAMNED WANT ONE BUT PRIMORDIAL JEWELS SUCK TO BUY DX

A better idea would simply be to allow one player to gift-purchase GGGold for another account. That way a player can effectively obtain an MTX for another as a gift for that friend, and if the receiving player spends the money on shit other than an MTX, or on a different MTX? That's between them. But being able to peg some points at my buddies accounts would be nice from time to time since I can afford it but they often can't.

Trading cosmetics is probably not ethical.
I think being able to trade cosmetics would ruin the uniqueness of the cosmetic item. They should keep it the way it has always been!

This!

I mean that will help a lot random box and other rng mtx system so people can just gift to their friends ALREADY duplicated skins and buy more rng mtx to roll and dont suffer from x100 copy of same mtx.

And btw GGG could add limit on expensive mtx so they cant be gifted anymore or something.

And more thing if we will get tutorial, why not add confirm button about gift duplicate mtx? So people dont miss and know what they doing... there a lot ways to implement it and GGG would win as more often people would buy points and use them.

Another one of these...rofl.
No rest for the wicked.
gifting other players is only allowed in guilds. apart from that, since cosmetics don't symbolize your real support towards the game anymore, they could as well allow trading cosmetics.

it's just that it would encourage players to exchange ingame items for ggg points. this is still "guild only".

Naw, that idea doesn't work.

You can just invite and kick anyone anytime, so it doesn't really represent any sort of confidentiality or trust.

Unless they have to donate to the guild and thus can't be kicked and then you're stuck with a fucking stranger in your house for months.

Charan is correct

basically GGG needs complete control over MXT sales and distribution
I dont see any any key!
